Pressler and pressler Set up payments before learning about these guys now what New Jersey

Hey all I just today came across all this informations about pressler and pressler and their dirty ways, however about 6 months ago I received papers from them using me for and old debt. I figured it was pretty serious and my family was telling me to take care of it as soon as possible I'm only 23 so of course I figured they knew best. Now I find out that they r a scam and try collecting debts that aren't even valid anymore and I'm not sure where to go from here. I set up monthly payments with them but haven't made any since the first one, but I also haven't even heard from them since them was my "debt" bogus and they gave up going after me? Or should I contact them and request validation of the debt instead of waiting around not paying, and if so is that even an option because I already settled with them? Please some help would be greatly appreciated thanks
