I went to this service provider with a new Toshiba 42" LCD TV that required a warrenty repair. TV was purchased new from Video Only and was just outside their 30 day Warranty period.
Video Only referred me to a service provider in Portland. This was about 1 hour and 15 minutes from my home so I called Toshiba customer service and they referred me to Pro TV in Beaverton which is approx 20 minutes from my home.
TV was dropped off to them in perfect conditon with exception of Video problem. TV was at their establishment from 2/16 to 3/2. Repair was completed.
TV was picked up by my wife and placed into back of car by the business owner. My wife failed to completely inspect TV. When TV was placed in home a few hours later several scratched were noted on rear of TV and there was also a very large scratch in the middle of teh TV screen.
TV was returned to Pro TV on 3/4 and problem was presented. At this time I was informed that this repair was not covered under warranty and that I would be required to pay for damage. My reply was I was not going to pay for damage that was done while TV was in service.
His reply was that apparently my wife had damaged it during the delivery.
At this point things deteriorated rapidly. The owner started yelling and screaming at me stating that I was threatening and had a bad attitude. All of this do to the statement of getting Toshiba involved.
I have notified Toshiba, and recommended that they not recommend this gentlemen to their customers as he has a very bad temper and is less then honest in his business practices. Toshiba has stated they will not get involved and this is a problem between an independant service provider and his customer, even though they recommended this provider in the first place.
TV remains with PRO TV and at this point I am out $1199.
I cannot believe this guy is in business as a private business owner in a customer service field. I also cannot believe that a major corporation, like Toshiba, does not care enough to ensure that their "certified service" providers represent their company in an honest and proffesional manner.
Hopefully this will get around to individuals in simialr situations prior to it becoming a total loss as this on has become.
