Ratchet Infotech Pvt. Ltd Charged $500 to fix a virus on my PC. I believe that they overstated the problem. Also they took over my PC and showed me a list of files that supposedly were disabled. They effectively scared me into believing that I had a real problem when in fact I may not had any issues at all. Can I recover this fee? Chandigarh, 160101 Internet

I was on the internet and all of a sudden a dialogue box popped up which indicated that I have serious viruses on my computer which resulted in disabling several programs. The dialogue box hasd a telephone number which I called. The number was 1-877-514-6954.

A technician picked up the phone and proceded to scare me into purchasing her services. She gained access to my computer and proceded to supposedly fix the viruses that were on my computer. The cost was $500.

After she finished I hung up and did some research on this company after the fact and found out that it probably was a scam.

My main concern is that they have my credit card information and potentially can now rip me off again.
