Respond Power Fradulant company, Overpriced and refuses to negoitate fair rates Orangeburg New York

We started out with this company a few years back then moved to our new home. We had a new account and were under the impression we went back to our former company PECO However we were then notified we had Respond Power still. No biggie until about 6 months ago when our bill started increasing.

We found out through PECO that Respond Power has been charging us 35 cents a kilowatt as opposed to PECO's 8cents. We were furious and asked PECO to change us back to them. They did but said we would have to stay with Respond Power until May 29th. I don't know why b/c we had no contract with Respond Power but PECO told us that is how it works and we should contact them to lower the price for this last month.

Currently we owe almost $800 in electric for what they have been charging us. It started at $100 then went to $200 a month, now it's $300 a month because we were on a budget plan that apparently has a sliding scale that Respond Power would change whenever they felt like it. I also must add we have a very small house like 900sqft our neighbor has a 4000 sqft and pays only $98 for his electric!

The worst part was we didn't know we were being charged this amount because it was written as a percentage in the “commodity fee” part of the bill. I never had a commodity fee when I was with PECO thus; a rep from PECO did the math for us and figured out that Respond Power was charging us 35 cents a kilowatt.

When everything is over with we figured that Respond Power has overcharged us by $2,000 more this last year. We contacted Respond Power only to be chastised by the employee whom answered the phone saying he would not allow us to speak with a manager because they would not negotiate a different rate. When we told them our lawyer would be contacting them the man told my husband to go ahead and spend more money on a lawyer!

This has got to be the most UNPROFESSIONAL and FRAUDLANT company we have ever dealt with. If you are using this company for your energy PLEASE switch as they will eventually steal from you as well. My husband is sole provider for a family of four thanks to Respond Power we will not be going on vacation this summer b/c PECO is still making us pay the full amount.
