My wife and I were told that students and recent grads (within a year of the presentation we went to) could receive a special offer and make payments of only $27/month. To any and all who have posted rebuttals saying "don't buy what you can't afford," I reply that this offer is precisely the reason we agreed to buy the product. The problem is, when the hidden 21+% interest rate is taken into account, $27 PER MONTH DOESN'T EVER TOUCH THE PRINCIPAL AND, IN FACT, IT DIDN'T EVEN COVER ALL THE INTEREST!
We were contacted a few months into our payments, this was pointed out to us, and we were told we could either agree to pay the non-student rate (which I can't even remember at the moment) or we could pay $50/month, which would begin to reduce the principal (though not by much). What this amounts to is that RP/HC admitted that the advertised student discount wasn't true - you can't make payments of $27/month and pay off the financing. We were lied to.
Personally, it says a lot to me about anyone who would defend a company that makes its money not by honestly having a better product, but by pressuring young couples, lying about payments, hiding interest rates, and requiring that you cancel the purchase before you even have the product to test it out.
