Ms Clark foaled out a mare I gave her $3,500 The foal was to be given back to me.

I should have gotten a contract with this young lady, I KNEW BETTER. She has a bad rep.

Well she wiened my foal at 3 months. I begged and even offered to pay for her to wait till 6 months. The baby badly needs the nutrition and the mare also helps with teaching manners.

The picks of before wiened and after are really disheartening.

I got a baby with a swollen belly, poor muscle mass, she has a cough, and lethargic.

I have had to pay a vet now 3 times.

The vets report stated poor health, worms, deterring muscle mass, depressed attitude, not alert. He was very surprised that someone would purposely do this to a foal, but not surprised when I mentioned her name.

He encouraged me to come on this site and speak out.

My foal was also bitten by a dog while she was there and stitched up. Well I wasn't even told about this. I just discovered my foal with stitches when I went to visit.

Years ago when I first found Shannon I put my stud in training with her. After a few months apparently nothing at all was being done. I pulled him out when I went to see him and he was standing in about 3 days worth of pee and poop.

When I took him to a reputable trainer she asked "how long he was with Shannon because he was totally green broke and that was it.

So I was paying for boarding and training, but just really getting boarding only.

I lost a few thousand.

End of story I have had the foal home now for about 2 1/2 months I have cleared up all her worms, her stomach is still swollen and she still is coughing. She is very very slowly getting better but only because of the vets meds and extra nutrition we are feeding everyday.

She did pass that cough onto one of my other horses so I had to have vet treat him as well.

My plan was to sell her but there is no way anyone would buy her in this condition so its going to be a while to get her where she should be nutritional wise. I also am disappointed because she is was and is lacking basic manners that the mare usually always teaches there baby.

These are al very well documented basic care for mare and foal. Im not in the horse business but plenty of friends are very high up in breeding and raising high quality horses and I have NEVER seen this lack of knowledge in basic care before.

One last thing one of Shannons old close friend told me long ago that she wouldn't keep a goat at her ranch. Well I was warned but didn't think it would really be that bad. I was wrong. If I had a contract I could have avoided this or taken her to small claims.

Ms. Clark is also not a lisenced or insured operation.

Response to Ms Smiths Claims

AUTHOR: MrsClark - ()

POSTED: Thursday, April 24, 2014

In Response to Ms.Smiths claims and accusations of a malnurished and sickly foal, I respond quite respectfully that the foal was weaned early due to the mother being an endangerment to the foal. The mare repeatedly kicked and or slammed the small filly into the wall when she was attempting to eat the mares feed. The foals was neither sickly nor malnurished she was given adiquate replacement feed to make up for the early weaning. This foal was stressed on numerous occasions between being pushed away by it's mother and was bitten on the nose by my Vets dog, which the vet stitched up and treated. These events played a part in stressing the foal along with the weaning process which is stressful enough. The foal was never sickly, malnourished or otherwise physically endangered. I agree we should have had a contract in place as I took said mare in on a friendship based with Ms.Smith I had little to no use for the Mare but was presented with a plea from whom I thought was a friend that she was loosing her house and could no longer keep all her horses. Which has since been proven inaccurate statement since Ms.Smith still resides in the same location. Ms. Smith was in contact with myself numerous times and I was even asked to broker the sale of the filly at one time which when brought a buyer and a deal nearly struck Ms. Smith changed her tune and decided not to sell said filly and all of a sudden slander my name and reputation. I have known Ms. Smith for many years and while have always thought well of her have in the recent 2 years seen her go through numerous back surgeries and be put on a pain and perscription drug regument to regulate the impact of these surgeries which I feel has deeply impacted her personna. She even went to the point of screaming at our horse shoer when she mistakened an appointment and he showed up at her house to trim and shoe that he was late and rude profain things, he of course left without another word and was quite upset by the entire ordeal. I do not agree with nor feel Ms. Smiths accounts of the incident regarding the foal nor her perception of myself and my horses. All of my horses are fat, health and happy.

As to the part regarding her Stud horse, also inaccurate. This horse was in training with me, fitted and shown by me. When he was here she was nothing but thrilled at his training. We had a differing opinion on his capabilities and the further he progressed in training the more his stifle seemed to bother him, I told Ms.Smith on many occasions that his training would be kept light and slow to keep that Stifle from getting stiff or sore. He rode nicely when he left my facility, anything that happened between here and the next trainer is not of my capability to control. Also my operation is insured and stalls are cleaned daily, horses are given fresh water daily and we feed quality hay. Ms.Smith is off base with all her accusations again please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding any statements. You may email me at fabulousgypsy@aol.com
