My husband and I bought a Simmons queen mattress set about 2 years ago from Mattress King, a retailer in Colorado.  We were pleased with our purchase until the mattress developed indentations, or as I would call them "holes", 2-3 inches deep.  (The springs, also, stuck out on the side of the bed.)

We went to complain about the bed and were told that Simmons would not honor the warranty unless we would fillout a packet of papers and take pictures of the bed.  We carefully used the tools that were in the packet and took pictures with a small camera that Simmons provided.  Because Simmons would only let you send them developed pictures, we went ahead and paid $20 for developing.

A few weeks later they sent a mattress inspector out to see the bed and perform the same tests and paperwork we had painstakingly done weeks before.  The mattress inspector found the same defects we had found and sent his findings to Simmons.

Mattress King, the Colorado retailer who sold us the bed, called and said we should talk to "Tom" at the store from which we bought the bed set.  When we went to the store to talk with the retail clerk, Tom, he informed us that we would get a new mattress, but, we would have to pay an additional $89 to have it delivered. His attitude towards us was arrogant and rude.  

This holds us hostage and renders the warranty worthless.  If we were to pay the $89, we would essentially be paying ($20+$89) over $100 for Simmons and Mattress King to take care of a defective mattress.  Somehow that seems crazy to me.  By the time we would have this settled, we would have paid 20% more for a defective bed and its replacement.  (The mattress cost a little over $500.)  

Since my husband and I are retired and on a fixed income, we find it difficult to come up with an additional $100+ to pay for a defective mattress to be replaced. 

The way we were treated by Simmons and Mattress King would make one think it was our fault.  How either of these companies survives is beyond my comprehension!  Neither of them is ethical in their dealings with the public.
