Simmons Mattress Company Mattress and warranty are worthless ripoff Atlanta Georgia

Five years ago, my wife and I purchased a Simmons Back Care Mattress from a local retailer called "Mattress Warehouse". The mattress was very comfortable at first, and we were happy with it. However, within five years it began to sag in the middle, to the point of being unusable.

"Mattress Warehouse" has since gone out of business, so we contacted Simmons to start a warranty claim. (the mattress has a 10-year warranty) They sent a free-lance "bed inspector" out to have a look. He measured the mattress and boxspring from every conceivable angle, but never put any weight on it to see how it responded differently in different areas.

A few weeks later, we got a letter from Simmons, stating that our bed must be "out of adjustment", and that this is what caused their mattress to fail. Now, I'm not a professional bed inspector, but I can tell you this: Our bed provides ample and even support for any mattress. It supports both sides of the mattress from top to bottom, and has three very strong steel crossbars from side-to-side. I checked all these and they are level, even with someone lying on the bed. In addition, this bed supported our previous mattress set (a Sealy) for 19 years with no problems, and when we put the Simmons mattress directly on the floor, the sag is exactly the same. The box spring appears to be perfect as well, leading to only one conclusion: The materials in the mattress did not stand up to the test of time.

We let Simmons know that this was the first and last Simmons product we (or any of our family) would ever buy. We understand that a new product sometimes doesn't hold up as planned, but their failure to honor the warranty is inexcusable. Unfortunately, this seems to be rampant in the mattress industry, as there are many other reports of mattress warranty claims being denied for the presence of a stain, or any other excuse they can come up with.

I don't advise doing business with Simmons.
