Today Monday May 23, 2011 at 5:09 PM I received a call from a male who said that he works for the Merchant Grace Law Firm in Oakland California.  I didn't get his name because he had a very thick accent and I had to keep asking him to repeat and spell the words.  He informed me that I am being brought up on charges for not paying back a loan that I took out in 2010 for $637.00.  I asked him when did I take this loan out and he said that he could not tell me because I was listed as a criminal and that he can only send the papers to my attorney.  I told him that I didn't take a loan out and that he must be mistaken but he knew my SS number, my address and my bank account. 

I got frustrated and told him that he needed to do what he needs to do.  I was advised by him that the Sheriffs office was going to call me in 30 minutes to verify that I was home.  How dumb was that statement.  So after I got off the phone with him I pulled up the yellow pages on the computer and typed in the law firms name and there was nothing in that name.  The address he gave me was 1499  and their was a law firm on 1498 so I called them.  They never heard of Merchant Grace Law Firm.  After that I looked up the phone number he called from, the number was from Houston Texas.  Needless to say I never got a call from the Sheriffs department. Some how these phone calls need to stop and to stop trying to scam people into sending them money.
