I told the salesman I knew there were things I didn't know about putting up a building and he talked about the ease of putting up one of their buildings.
"4 people could put it up in a long weekend."

I put down my deposit and upgraded, to include the industrial brackets, which were supposed to lower my foundation costs up to 30% but increased my investment by a couple grand.

Our 1 page blue prints arrived about a month later. The blueprints were not specific to our county, had MINIMAL details on them, and no mention of several building requirements related to our climate or city codes.

I was Not prepared at all for the price of the foundation bid, which came back at 3 times the price of the building and felt completely unprepared for the total cost of erecting the structure (no overview was discussed) and looks like it will come back between $30,000-$40,000.  I thought I was in for about $10k all told.

At this point, I called Steel Master and said I was concerned and they told me all the perks and benefits of their building...again.

I asked to be released from my contract and they reminded there were no returns and no refunds but they would be happy to work with me on getting a smaller building or something.

They have been in business for 35 years but I just felt so UN-HELPED by the folks who sold me. When I was passed to the next customer care agent I felt like the best thing I could do was cut my losses, as it felt like it would only get worse from here on (read more $$$).

I am so disappointed that this company had no overview to prepared me to be a satisfied customer and boy has my marriage and my self esteem suffered from my desire to save money and do it myself. This project is WAY more complicated that I was led to believe.

So if my review can help anyone to ask more questions, or make better choices, please let me remind you to research this company before you get locked in.
