I bought two concert tickets from Ticket Liquidators for a Neil Young in Boston where I live. The order total before I authorized my credit card for two tickets was just under $400 and the receipt after I made my purchase showed the same amount.  I then received an email from Ticket Liquidators after the purchase saying that the tickets would be sent by a company called Kangaroo Promotions. The tickets were never sent by the promised date but, more importantly, my credit card statement showed a charge of well over $400 which was $50 more than what I authorized. When I called Ticket Liquidators about this overcharge, they told me that Kangaroo Promotions is in Canada and that there was a $50 customs tax charge to deliver the tickets to Boston. At no time did Ticket Liquidators tell me before my purchase that a Canadian company would be sending the tickets and that significant extra fees would be involved. Furthermore, Ticket Liquidators told me that the statement Your total does not include any applicable state or local taxes on their website exonerates them from responsibility. Therefore, beware that purchasing tickets from Ticket Liquidators involves international hidden fees that are exorbitant. I have initiated a chargeback with my credit card company for the overcharge that was not disclosed in advance since I assumed, reasonably, that state and local taxes are for my state, not a Canadian customs tax charge!

TL.com is a huge scam!!

AUTHOR: ROCKY - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, May 18, 2012

I just bought tickets this morning from "TL.com" they both told me on the phone and also sent me NOT ONE but TWO emails, that I HAD my tickets! The third party SCAM company they deal with, "DoubleFunTickets2", ( funny thing is, this scam company is no where to be found!!! ) Then after "3" emails for "TL.com" and their partners in crime, "DoubleFunTickets2" and 2 phone calls from the great scam company "DoubleFunTickets2" TELLING ME I HAD MY TICKETS!!! The total scam company DoubleFunTickets2, calls me just hours before the event!!!  And tells me, that they  CANNOT give me my tickets!! that I had already PAID for, that MORNING!! Called worthless customer service, at "TL.com" and both times they said they would NOT put me through to a manager or someone in charge! They basiclly said "SCEW YOU"!! and have a nice day!! Then I did a internet search, and found that one, the scam company, "DoubleFunTickets2" is no where to be found!! And, two, the other scam company, "TL.com" ALL their phone numbers are "ONLY" the worthless toll-free customer service #!!! I will NEVER deal with this company ever again! I'm going back to STUBHUB!! Yes, they charge a little more, but you always get your tickets!! Trust me you are making a huge mistake, to think, you will ever get tickets, dealing with this MEGA SCAM company TL.com!!! ps. and for the employee who says they work for them, how can you sleep at night working for such a SCAM company!!!

TL is a marketplace and not a direct seller of tickets

AUTHOR: Ticket Liquidator - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 18, 2012

Hello! I am an employee of TL responding to the customer above. It seems there has been some confusion with the customer in regards to an extra charge.

Briefly, when you purchase through TL, you're guaranteed to pay:

1) the ticket price

2) the service fee (18.5% of the ticket price)

3) a delivery fee (FedEx, usually)

In addition to the above, we warn customers on our website that, in rare occasions, extra tax charges may apply to a customer's order. This is especially and reliably true if you happen to purchase from a seller stationed in California, Texas, Illinois, or Canada since taxes are based on the sellers location. We are nevertheless not able to calculate tax charges because local and state entertainment taxes are so uniquely variant in nature that they cannot be tracked easily and accurately by remote systems. We therefore alter customers on the checkout pages that tax charges may apply (even though they're a rarity) and we caveat this with a willingness to aid upset customers with compensation if they're unhappy with any such charge.

Generally speaking, tax charges are rare and usually slight (5%), but it appears the customer above purchased tickets from a Canadian seller, where taxes are higher in nature. (Most sellers on our exchange are US-based, but there are a few Canadian sellers. They are identifiable for US customers when you noticed that a given listing requires "international" shipping to the US. This international shipping would have been advertised to the customer prior to his purchase's completion -- thus indicating the tickets were not coming from a US seller.)

As a result, the extra charge the customer experienced accrued to Canada, not TL or the seller of the order -- but we're nevertheless sorry for the customer's unhappiness and want him to know, if he emails molly@ticketliquidator.com, we'll issue him a discount code worth 125% of his proven tax charge for the order, as a way to help the customer recoup his losses.
