Someone called my in-laws home left a message for me that there was a judgement against me that I needed to call this phone number and gave a case file. I called the number given was 1-855-274-8026 I gave the man the file number he had told me that I had an outstanding bill from sprint from 10 years ago. I told him that I had not ever owned a sprint phone, he asked me to verify the last 4 digits of my social, he then rattled off the whole thing to me along with my street address, I asked him tones of questions that he could not answer, he just kept telling me that someone was going to show up at my door with a summons and I was going to have to take it up in court!

He finally got irritated and hung up.   I did call sprint to make sure I was not only not in there system ever but the case file was non existent!! I called the poilce and made a formal complaint. The number from whitch the original caller called from was a land line in Billings, Montana, which I did call back where I got a gentalman that answered and was just as rude! He hung up on me too!  I did contact the Billings, Montana local police dept and filed a complaint there as well.  Scary that they had already had my info! Watch your stuff and call the credit bureaus I notified everyone!!!!

Pissed off - Las Vegas

AUTHOR: Pissed off - Las Vegas - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, June 17, 2014

I kept getting back-to-back calls from an unfamiliar number to tell me that I had 1 hour to contact 1-855-274-8026 before they moved forward with a judgement or lien against me. So I called out of concern and was told I had a bill of $2355 from 2005 (can you say way past 7 years). The $2355 had now reached an out of court settlement of $364.00. I could pay the $364 to stop from going to court and paying the full $2355. These people had my address, last four digits of my SSN, etc. - said someone would knock on my door in 2-3 hours to serve me a subpoena.

I informed them they would need to send me a bill, otherwise they could move forward and I would fight in court. Not only is there 0 record of a judgement against me but I have been with Sprint for 8+ years! Wouldn't Sprint make me pay $2355 before I was ever able to establish or re-establish service?

I asked a butt load of questions and the guy began to get very frustrated with me and ended our conversation with letting me know that I will be served in a few hours. I agree with Pissed off in New York - these people are a complete ripoff!

Here's some helpful hints:

_ Subpoenas, Judgements, Liens, have to go through the legal process before anyone can serve you.  Please check your County's local Courts to confirm before indulging in conversation with these folks.

_ Don't panic! Confirm the details first, request a bill, ask for the name of the Creditor so you can confirm there is an outstanding bill, etc. [They would not give me the name of the Creditor. The guy kept saying - TMobile (never had service), Verizon (never had service), Sprint (current phone plan), DirectTV (current provider), etc. I told him his info was incorrect or he did not have the right person.

_ Get the name of the person who is handling your "case" and pass that info along with your complaint to the police.

Be aware people!
