I was contacted today by a gentleman claiming to be with United American Insurance Company. I was told I had 'applied' online through Career.com and he allegedly wanted to set up an interview.
I was laid off in mid May from a COMMERCIAL PRINTING company. I have a wife, two teenage boys, and a mortgage. I have been franticly busting my hump TRYING to get back to work BEFORE I have to consider McDonald's or Wendy's or BOTH!
I couldn't see myself applying for an insurance position so I started looking around on the internet. Guess what I found? O.M.G. !!! B*****ds!!!!
I'm glad I did a lil looking! AND I'm grateful to everyone who has posted on here already about this Ripoff! The time & frustration you have helped me avoid? PRICELESS!! Thank You!!! Maybe it's time to turn the tables on 'em? I have an 'interview' May 23 at 3 pm still standing. Maybe I outta record it & post to YouTube?

Actually, this reporter was smart enough to do some research into a comapny that, in all likelihood, sends this "invitation" to EVERYONE who submits their resume on career.com.
After I graduated from law school I was hard up for a gig, as at that time it was rather hard for a lawyer to find work. I was inundated with a slew of offers from various insurance companies. Upon research, I found that each of these companies had numerous reports on this site, all relating to "opportunities" that basically turned out to be pyramid shemes.
So no, I wouldn't expect that this reporter is currently flipping burgers. In fact, giving his savvy, I would expect that he has found some sort of gainful employment, as have I.

So it would seem that someone who found your resume online and called you for an interview are subsequently scam-artists?
If that's the case, I imagine that by now you're working at Wendy's or Burger King. No harm done here, you're not really the type that would fit into any kind of organizational culture anyway. =)
