U.S. Energy Savings Corp. sends out sales people door-to-door, misrepresenting themselves to be from Con-Edison. I found out online, after the fact, that they typically target minority neighborhoods, especially those with non-English speaking populations.
They would say that they are from con-edison/whatever your energy company is, and ask to see your bill. When you sign up, thinking you're saving money you actually are charged more than your old company. They have accumulated numerous complaints in the BBB, many times more than their competitors.
They came to my house and told my wife that I had chosen their company to do business with and tricked her into signing a 5 year contract (I was able to cancel.) Several weeks later, they came again and told my mother that they were from con-edison and asked to see our bill. They have also stopped at all my neighbors' and my in-laws' places using the same trickery.
Be careful. You could end up losing a lot of money. They only offer 4 and 5 year contracts, with only a 3 day grace period to cancel. After that, they got you.

U.S Energy employees,(independent contractors) I being one of them, can tell you that is not the way things work! It was stated that a contractor misrepresented himself from being from another company, That is a big problem becuase we all carry i.d. badges that clearly state the name of our company, our pictures, and our employee i.d. number for customer security and registration procedures.
Yes it is a 4 or 5 year plan however gas prices since 2002 have gone up and this program is an alternitive to the market rate wich has been increasing. This program does save people money. In fact are gas prices are a year behind the market rate U.S.Energy is aproved by the gas utility in your area.
As for falsley represnting the company, we are required to Go over all information on the registration form with customer then call to verify information with a customer service rep who also goes over all the details of the program and if the custmer is still questioning the phone service rep will not register that customer.
I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experiance but Thats Really Not How The Program Works..Also No we do not Target Ederly And Non English Speaking People if anything there slighty harder to register because of the Language and hearing Barriers, However there are Spanish contracts and people who do speak spanish use them
