Verilux Useless warranty Waitsfield Vermont

I purchased a Verlux floor lamp in May 2014.  In October the lamp failed.  In an exchange of emails with the company they determined the the problem was a faulty ballast.  They were willing to repair or replace it under warranty free of charge.  All I had to do was pay for the packaging, the shipping cost to them and the return shipping.  This exeeded the original cost of the lamp and the cost of a replacement one if I purchased it locally.  Their answer to this was that would provide a more expensive lamp, which I don't need.  I told them not to expect any further businees from me or anyone else I could inform about their method of doing business.
