Abby Kennels Kevin Lanouette Sold genetically deficient dogs-Puppy Mill Chelmsford, Lynchburg MA., Virginia

Kevin Lanuette, and his business under the name of Abby Kennels, has proven to be a great disappointment. I have personally known Kevin Lanuette for as long as 25 years from the dog sport of Schutzhund. I purchased two German Shepherd Dogs from Kevin. One female, eight weeks old, the other male 20 months old, for the purposes of breeding based upon presumed good genetics. My presumption of good genetics was ill-fated and misplaced. I personally would equate his business of producing puppies, as nothing more than a puppy mill. At the age of 2 years old, the female’s x-rays came back with Severe Hip Dysplasia rendering her not breed worthy. The male came back with radiological findings of elbow spurs rendering him being not breed worthy. Also, with severe allergies requiring monthly injections of Cytopoint at a cost of $289.00 each month. Both dogs had genetic anomalies through breeding. It was more than a year ago that I reasonably asked Kevin to do the honorable and right thing to do which was to issue a refund on the female, not even the male. “I will throw you some money after I have a few litters of puppies”, is what he said. Nothing but a sob story on how difficult his life had been.

After a year passed, I persisted with requesting a refund with the result of him offering a replacement puppy. Why in the world would I want another puppy? Once bitten twice shy! It was readily apparent at this point that he was producing genetically deficient dogs. Our business with these dogs was conducted on a friendly basis of trust and honor. The right thing to do was for Kevin to issue a refund and I would have been satisfied but no, Kevin’s lack of ethical breeding, and failings of his character defects of greed for money, and dishonesty would not allow for him to do the right thing which was to part with money. These two dogs cost me a small fortune and continue to with no resolve from Kevin. He has now moved to Virginia to carry on with his puppy mill business leaving burnt bridges of broken hearts of owners and broken dogs with no remorse.
