Ahmed Rentals Infested Apartment, Withheld $3,000, Then Re-Rented on Airbnb Portland Maine

I rented an apartment from this landlord in Portland, Maine, and discovered a severe German cockroach infestation on the first day. Despite notifying him immediately, he refused to issue a refund and delayed any serious extermination. I formally terminated the lease due to uninhabitable conditions under Maine law, but he still kept my $3,000 (rent and deposit).

To make it worse, he re-rented the same unit on Airbnb just days later, without resolving the issue or finalizing my lease termination — then blocked me on Zelle and all communication. He has liens on the property, has dodged accountability, and shows no intention of paying me back.

I’ve filed complaints with Portland Code Enforcement, the Fire Marshal, and the Maine Attorney General, and I’m pursuing legal action in Small Claims Court. Avoid this landlord at all costs — he is dishonest, evasive, and not operating in good faith.
