On Dec 23, 2023 I rented a mechanical bull for a party from Alakai inflatables & party rentals. The Bull arrived on time but broken the employees needed an extra hour and half to wait for tools and parts to fix. Once it was finally set up it would only work for a minute then malfunction the employee had to shut it off and bang the wires under the bull and bang the control panel which reset it for another minute. The line of guests finally walked away upset as this was the theme of the party. I told the attendant to call his manager and that I wanted my money back since it did not work. At the time it was late and the manager was not picking up the phone. That evening I sent an email to the office letting them the problem and that their attendant said the same thing it would not work. The office manager refused to refund my money and said the boss is the only one that can, I asked for his number and she refused to provide it. The following day I called again asking for a refund saying it did not work the office manager said she needed to pick it up and test it at the office on Dec 26 and if it worked there she would not refund my money I told her it did not work on Dec 23 and your employee told you it did not. Still they would not refund my money and the owner Joseph Rinn refused to talk to me. The employee then let me know the business is not local as they claim and are operating out of the Phillipines trying to trick local people in Hawaii. This is notthe first complaint I see 5 others on the BBB site they have a F rating on. I spent all day on Dec 26 calling and emailing since the last message from the office manager said by Tues Dec 26 we wil test andif its our fault refund you the money which never happened. The total amount of $1677.44 is owed to me and the owner refuses to refund or call me. This is on going he is hiding behind the ofice manager and the fact that he is not in Hawaii. Make sure to stay away from Alakai inflatables and party rentals at all costs it is a fraud and ripoff trying to claim they are a Hawaii company please check complaints on the BBB and yelp to see what this fraudster is doing not refunding peoples hard earned money even after the employees said it doesnt work
