John Miles with Americas Security Group is the most unprofessional and dishonest individual I have ever had the displeasure to do business with. Over the course of 30 months, the alarm system we ordered through him as an authorized dealer of Brinks (MONI at the time), has never properly worked. We paid for cameras, thermostat, door sensors and garage lift system. Of those, only the door sensors worked consistently. Cameras would stop recording for months on end. Garage system worked for 2 months then went into malfunctioned state. Thermostat was never installed.
Any time I messaged John about the issues, he pushed it back for me to fix myself. Numerous times I reprogramed the entire system as if I worked for the company. Anything wrong, he claimed it was my internet. I purchased a separate router dedicated to run a 2Ghz wifi strictly for the alarm system. I purchased a controller that monitors wifi channel strength and ensures Im using a clear channel. None of this was good enough apparently to get John to troubleshoot himself. When night vision on the cameras flat out quit working, John still blamed this on my wifi. Really??
We've contacted him numerous times over the 30 months of service to get repairs but issues were never resolved. After the alarm system failed to protect us against a security incident, I contacted John and informed him we can no longer continue to pay $65/month for services that do not work. My expectation was cancellation without any additional fees.
Finally, John himself offered to replace the doorbell camera and remove equipment that Im paying monthly for that doesn't work. He would also credit our account accordingly. The very next day when he was supposed to show up, he instead texted me that he would be cancelling service and charge us 80% of the remaining contract. No credits, no repairs. Completely blew my mind.
This is an individual whose verbal and written words mean nothing. Absolutely zero integrity. He apparently decided it was easier for him to earn more money by not lifting a finger. When I asked why the sudden change, he told me his wife told him to cancel us. I pointed out it's a two-way 36 month contract but he claims he can cancel without my authorization and charge me regardless.
We simply wanted the alarm system we've paid for in good faith over the last 30 months to actually work. John doesn't guarantee anything will actually work, only that you'll get purchased equipment. It might never be installed, it might never work. For some reason he expects this is acceptable to someone ordering an alarm system and paying monthly for 3 years.
For far too long I was a good sport over the many issues. The red flags were there from the beginning unfortunately but I wanted to make it work. John took advantage of this and once I'd had enough he decided to take one last swipe at collecting money. It's absolutely sickening.
