My family and I suffered a house fire on March 31, 2019.  AZ Fire & Water Restoration, INC., Disaster Recovery Specialists TM (AFW) was hired to complete renovation on our home the night of the fire.  Dealing with this company has been one of the most horrible experiences of my life, due to their abhorrent business ethics, lack of accountability, and construction fraud. AFW has taken a ridiculously long time to finish completion on the restoration of our home, and has not finished doing the job they were hired to do until Sept. 2020. AFW promised our home would be completed at least 4 different times (Oct. 2019; December 2019; February 2020; April 2020) and each time neglected to have our home move-in ready. We have had to constantly had to beg them to finish the job they were hired to do.

The project completion delays have significantly impacted us financially. We were forced to live in a hotel for 2 weeks after the money our insurance had allocated for temporary housing run-out, after a year of repairs, and AFW refused to compensate us for their negligent business practices. Additionally, we have incurred a loss of approximately $22,500 in potential revenue, we had planned to obtain from leasing our home in January 2020.

When we finally moved in to the home in May 2020, there were still multiple big ticket items that were not finalized  and my family and I had to live in the home while they made these repairs. This includes not having functioning AC on the first floor of our home for about a week during the beginning of the 100+ degree summer in Arizona.  The HVAC system on the first floor does is in terrible shape.  Cool air has leaked in the area of the return and the system has been clumsily repaired various times, in some places even using rags to patch up areas in a “New” system.  The AC make excessive noise and rattles every time it is on.

Additionally, AFW replaced three sets of cheap double doors in the home without our approval or our insurance's approval. These double doors were so poorly placed that a visible gap of about an inch or more existed in-between the doors and another piece of yardstick looking wood had to be placed to fix this issue, that was a non-issue to begin with.

Furthermore, many personal items removed from the home to clean by AFW’s contents’ department were never returned. These include bed linens, comforters, clothes, etc. which the company has refused to accept responsibility for.  They also "lost" our stove, an outdoor patio chair, and other items from the home while htey were repairing it.

Moreover, the company destroyed all curtain hardware and window coverings by carelessly painting over these items, and the overall paint job the house was given leaves much to be desired.  The paint of the trim and the doorways is not a solid line; doorway paint is thick where paint has dripped and there are areas where tape has been painted over.  Additionally, there is paint splatter in areas throughout the home, where paint should not be, such as floor, windows, and light appliances.

The amount of time and effort spent on dealing with this company has led to significant emotional distress and psychological hardship, and as of today, October 22, 2030, we have still NOT been able to finalize or buisness relationship with this company, due to disputes over final payment.

There have been many items on the insurance estimate, totally approximately $32,000  worth of items, with the company has neglected to do.  Had I not revised the insurance estimate in great detail, the company would have happily charged us for things they did not do.  We are still unsuccessfully attempting to come to an agreement on final payment.
