BBB Serving Southeast Florida & the Caribbean IS A SCAM.

My company has been skeptical to have a BBB profile, never wanted one. Had bad experiences with all my prior companies I have ever owned. This latest company, called Gateway Moving, had earned our A rating, and we asked clients to write feedback on the BBB as often as possible as well as other review sites to EARN our ratings and reviews. However, once the BBB was able to "charge you a membership" and accredite you, they now moved me for NO REASON from an A rating, to an F rating!!!! \

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM.

I cannot speak for the BBB in other states or areas, but the BBB of South Florida and Eastern Carribean, Nicola, Rachel, Jay, Hector, and the rest of their employees, must be getting money on the side. They give companies who are LYING ON THEIR FEDERAL INFORMATION AND GOVERNMENT WEBSITES A RATINGS, and Why? Becuase they pay them.
For any consumer who is looking for a REAL good company, stay away from the BBB ratings because even those are FAKE AND PAID FOR IN SOUTH FLORIDA!!!

Examples of companies they are accepting money from for ratings; MAIN MOVING in fort lauderdale. This company has ONE TRUCK listed as insured with their insurnace company, yet with the DOT and FMCSA they are listed with dozens of trucks, lying on a federal form and .gov website. They have been open for ONE YEAR, they have 18 complaints with the BBB, yet- the BBB gives them a B rating! ??? hmmmm

I have a list of 10 of these companies.

The BBB IS A SCAM. I want my rating back and I will NOT be paying for it !!!

Except That You're a Moving Company in Florida

AUTHOR: Jim - (United States)

POSTED: Monday, August 26, 2019

The worst movers in the country are located in Florida; the best thing I tell anyone moving interstate is to go with (a) one of the big companies like United, Bekins, Atlas, Mayflower, North American, maybe Graebel and a couple of others, or (b) move yourself.  Rule out any company located in Florida - period.  I'm sure there are good moving companies located in FL - asking the average consumer to figure out which one is OK to use in the moving industry is next to impossible.

Consumers basically take their life into their own hands selecing any mover located in FL.  Yeah, I get that people lie on SaferSys (the FMCSA site) like you said, but a lot of FL movers lie on SaferSys as well.  The DOT isn't going to do anything because they have maybe 6 employees in DC overseeing thousands of movers across the country.  The BBB in SE Florida is completely worthless - years ago, they identified an infamous South FL mover (now closed) with over 600 complaints in 36 months as having an A-.  Yes, membership in the BBB has its privileges.

The question you have to ask yourself is how valuable is the BBB rating?  If many consumers know the BBB is full of it, then its grading system is meaningless, and this site does that.  Yelp has a lot of movers who will congratulate themselves on a great move they never did.  A consumer that uses a rating system to select a mover is a fool.

However, if you really want to make a difference with a customer, and you're in FL, then I would recommend the following at a minimum:

  • stay off of sites like moving.com for your business
  • cater to local customers only
  • do the moving surveys prior to a truck showing up
  • provide a quote in person to the potential customer
  • hand out the "Rights and Responsibilities Booklet to EVERY potential customer, and
  • offer FRV to your interstate moving customers.

Gaining credibility and trust is far more important than any BBB rating will ever do because most consumers have no idea what they're doing when it comes to moving.  Best of luck to you...
