I bought a used Hino box truck from Bently Truck Sales in Miami, and it’s been a nightmare from day one.
 
The salesman told me it was “work-ready.” That was a lie.
•They refused to bring the truck up for inspection, so I had to wire money down just to lock it in.
•The engine was freshly cleaned — clearly to hide an oil leak. By the time we drove it back, oil was everywhere: on the engine, under the truck, all over.
•The reefer unit failed within 3 weeks. It had missing parts, dry belts squealing, and zero refrigerant.
•After just a few trips, the transmission started throwing electrical codes and acting up.
 
This was a classic bait-and-switch.
 
I posted about it. Instead of trying to fix the issue, Bently Truck reached out just to stop me from “spreading the truth.” Still trying to save face, we agreed to pay for a tow back to their Miami shop so they could “make it right.” Weeks passed, then they said it was ready.
 
I sent a driver to pick it up. When he got there? Nobody at the shop even knew which truck was ours. Completely disorganized. No communication. No accountability. Maybe they were pissed they had to touch it again.
 
Eventually they handed over the truck. Halfway back to Orlando, check engine light pops on. Truck runs like garbage and goes into limp mode. Again. And just like before — radio silence from Bently.
 
Brian Costigan told me, “We’re a small family business, not like the big-name guys with junk trucks.” That’s marketing BS. At least with Penske or Ryder, you know what you’re getting. This truck’s been in and out of the shop non-stop. From what I’ve heard, this isn’t the first time they’ve pulled this.
 
And the reefer? I specifically told them to have it set to 7°F. After running empty for over 8 hours, it only reached 19°F. Their excuse? “It’s not designed to do that.” Then why are you selling it as a produce hauler?
 
Their social media is full of polished trucks and “trained techs,” but don’t be fooled — what you’ll actually get is an as-is junker with a shady history and zero support.
 
Before I bought, I asked Brian directly about the truck’s background. He swore it was solid. Looking back, I think he saw someone desperate — I’d just lost a truck to a fire — and decided to take advantage.
 
Bottom line: I wouldn’t buy a lawnmower from Bently Truck, let alone trust them with a vehicle my business depends on.
