On March 30, 2019, I employed Big Boy Movers to move my heavy belongings including a mint condition Wultizer piano purchased in 1988. It had never been out of the house in all that time. I had previously questioned Kole, office manager, about if they moved pianos.

He stated that they had many times. My house is a split entry so I told him that I would have his crew, Ammon, Tom, Steve and Brett, look at the job and see if they felt confident they could move the piano and all items without damage. If they did not feel comfortable, I had a piano mover scheduled the following week. They moved the piano to the 26' Uhaul rental truck that I was required to rent BUT UNKNOWNANCE TO ME FAILED TO USE EVEN ONE OF THE SEVEN (7) RATCHET TIE DOWNS THAT I PROVIDED TO SECURE THE PIANO.

Due to their negligence in properly securing the piano with the tie downs I provided since they did not have any, the piano's three (3) foot pedals broke off along with breaking the piano lid guide post plus leaving a large scrape in the area of the piano lid's hinge side. This damage was brought to my attention at the new place and I was told by Tom that they would take care of the damage.

Today, April 1, 2019, Kole sent me an email stating that they would only pay $180.00 which is unacceptable since in speaking with a professional piano repairman who takes care of damages that moving companies do while trying to move a piano that the repairs would be $700 or more depending upon if there is internal damage.

I will meet with the repairman tomorrow and reserve the right to amend this complaint.   My warning to the moving public, do not use Big Boy Movers.

Big Boy Movers came through

AUTHOR: Sherwin - (United States)

POSTED: Saturday, April 06, 2019

Big Boy Movers has, after refusing to restore the damage they caused, agreed to do so out of good faith. I wish to remove my complaint from Ripoff Report. They really went the extra mile to reach a settlement. I can now recommend Big Boy Movers of Lehi, UT to anyone.

You Should Have Used a Piano Mover

AUTHOR: Jim - (United States)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 02, 2019

There are specialized movers that focus only on pianos - many of these movers work with legit movers like United, Bekins, Allied, Atlas, North American, and a few others to move valuable and awkward shaped items like pianos.  They may be more expensive, but your piano or other heavy object won't be damaged.  The fact a general mover says they can move a piano should give absolutely NOBODY confidence that they can.  That's why companies that specialize in piano moving exist.

Moving is not inexpensive and trusting any old mover to moving a valuable piano is possibly the worst thing one can do.  Best of luck to you....
