Cooner Construction LLC Well I’m actually ready to make this horror of a renovation public. Everyone I speak to about this disaster has mentioned either they have been through it or they know someone or a family member who has been taken advantage by contractors. I can’t afford the legal recourse so this is all I have. My story. In early 2023, I hired Joel Cooner of Cooner Construction LLC for a $350k renovation project. Permitting was slow (not their fault). But eventually permits were issued end of June 2023. I ended up paying $270k of $350 contract and after 10 months framing still wasn’t complete. Instead, I’ve been living in a trailer in my backyard through the Denver winter (still here and it’s nearly November and getting very cold overnight) with frozen pipes and expensive propane heating, because the contractor failed to finish even basic framing on my house. Despite constant communication and paying for work that was never completed, my contractor seemingly abandoned the project. Subcontractors placed liens on my property, and some even removed equipment from my home. The stress has been overwhelming. I’m sharing my story to warn others: Do your homework before hiring a contractor (which I thought I did) and always be vigilant about their progress.
