For 2022, I'm going to try to accomplish two things:

1. Be at peace that I was ripped off by these cheaters and not fret over it so much

2. Announce to the world their buisness model as experienced by me, which seems to be to promise great things and take a $3,500 deposit to begin work, and then deliver no work at all and keep $2,000 after months of continued disappointment.  Essentially, keeping $2,000 of my money for doing nothing at all.

Details:

In January 2021, we visited the Coventry model home in New Braunfels and met with the sales rep there, who was very professional and relaxed.  The model suited our needs and so we entered into a contract in early February to begin the work on finalizing designs of our new custom built home on our lot.  The contract was the beginning step and was to accomplish the following, for a $3,500 deposit:

1. Draft and final drawings

2. Land assessment

3. Working with a 3rd Party design center on the design selections for our home.

We began the process excitely.  The draft drawings were reversed from our desires, as if it was in a mirror.  The left side of the home was on the right side of the page.  The salesman said he'd take care of it.  We never got another drawing.

At the design center, we drove a significant distance on three separate days, missing half days of work, to spend an hour looking over design options for Coventry Homes, which were significantly of less quality than others in the same center.  "They don't offer that..." was often the response to requests.  After the third visit, we expected a final readout and pricing, which would lead to the final build contract with all the details.  Weeks passed.  We called and were given an appointment for our final review.  When we arrived, two different designers were trying to rebuild our work and selections from scattered notes; pricing was not yet available.  This was weeks after final selections and they were still waiting for pricing!

No assessment work was done on our property during our relationship with Coventry.  We did spend an hour with the salesman and helped him stretch a tape measure and roughly mark out the corners of the home on our lot.  Our impression of the salesman was that he was sincere and wanted this relationship to succeed and worked as well as he could.  However, contact was minimal and always initiated by us.  When I asked how I could be confident in the building process if the design process was this screwed up, I was assured that we'd meet every two weeks to discuss progress moving forward.  Those meetings NEVER occured.  It was always us initiating the conversation until eventually the salesman stopped taking our calls and responding to emails.

Conclusion:  Three items promised, none delivered.

Since the salesman was not answering calls or returning voicemails, I called from a different phone and when he answered, announced we'd like to end the relationship and I'd like a refund of our deposit.  I was emailed a form to fill out requesting the cancellation.  After 6 weeks, we received a check for $1,500.  Repeated attempts to ask for an invoice or explanation of the missing $2,000 continue to be ignored.  Until they inforrm me of what my $2,000 paid for since they did no work at all, I have to conclude they stole my money and thus the title of this ripoff report.

The upside of this whole mess is I didn't enter into a finalized contract of over $600,000 with this company as I am sure it would have been heartache and disappointment.  My advice:  Walk away from this company as fast as you can.
