I entered into a contract to buy a home in the Kindred community in Orlando FL in Sept 2024. I was told that the home would be ready in Feb 2025, it was an empty lot when I put down the deposit of $49,200. The contract provided for the seller to provide 30 days notice to close. The home ended up being accelerated and part of the quota that DR Horton was trying to close on by end of 2024 to improve their financials. They gave me notice on Dec 2, 2024 that the closing was set for Dec 26, 2024, in person, a day after Christmas. I already had travel plans for winter break with my children and was going to be out of state and notified them of that. In addition, the home did not ultimately have a CO till 2 days before Christmas.
I rushed to find a lender to close this fast, I even inquired with their own DR Horton Mortgage but they wouldn't help me. lt was impossible for any lender to work on a loan when the home did not even receive a CO because they could not appraise the home. DR Horton bothered me and my lender incessently during Christmas to close, do inspections, do appraisals on a home that wasn't ready. I was unable to close, my lender decided it wasn't worth dealing with them, and DR Horton sold the home to someone else for full price in January. DR Horton is refusing to return my deposit.
I have been transacting in real estate for 20 years, never have I seen such dishonest and ruthless corporate practices putting corporate profits above any other consideration.

So then...You're this big time real estate mogul, right? You want to buy this VACANT land and there's a problem. How many papers did you sign? Did YOU read and understand every one before you agreed to the terms? Did you have this vacant land surveyed and certified to you??? I don't care if you've been involved in 1000 transactions or this is your first, a SMART CONSUMER always has an attorney representing them and them alone for the transaction. PERIOD! Guess what Einstein? If YOU would have had an ATTORNEY, you wouldn't be here complaining!!!!
