I usually do not write reviews about things , even when I get ripped off , but this was a case where I felt I have to speak out so no one else will be ripped off from David Hunter of IRS Tax Doctors again.  It started back in early April of 2011 I had a old business tax problem I needed some assistance with  and I found David Hunter of IRS Tax Doctors on the internet . I called and left a message and about 12 hours later received a call back from David Hunter. We talked about my problem and we scheduled an appointment for me to come to what I thought was an office.

The day of the appointment I arrived at not an Office but David Hunters run down apartment. I knocked on the door and there was no answer I called a few times figuring I was early and he just had not gotten back yet after waiting 45 minutes and no one showing up I left. About 5 hours later I got another call from David Hunter of Irs Tax Doctors , he claimed that he had a family emergency and was unable to call me to cancel the appointment , this should have tipped me off but I have a trusting nature and gave him the benefit of the doubt .

I hired him and sent a $200 retainer which I was suppose to receive a receipt for and never did. When I hired him we scheduled a time to have a phone conference with the agent that was handling my case . I waited by the phone at the time specified and there was no call from David Hunter from IRS Tax Doctor. After about 45 min of waiting I called him and left messages on his cell phone about 30 min later I get a call from him from his girlfriends home phone , at this point I am extremely worried about the professionalism David Hunter shows , he claims to be a big shot Tax negotiator but I have very serious doubts any of his claims are true. So I am ready for this phone meeting with the agent handling my case and David Hunter but instead he called the IRS help line to ask questions about points of tax law that I could have answered for him. We never did call the case worker instead he said he would make the call that afternoon and call me back.

Two weeks later and I still had not heard back from Mr Hunter, I left messages sent emails all went unanswered finally a few weeks later after calling what I think was his girlfriends phone I got a text message from David Hunter stating that my Irs agent would not answer the phone or return his calls. WE kept this up for almost 3 months him never talking to me directly on texting me and text very little maybe once or twice. I finally sent an angry email asking for a refund of my $200

you got it. I have never in 12 years practicing at a very high level, going to tax court, being an advisor  to Senate staff on hearings on IRS abuse, which led to reform and the taxpayers bill of rights. So I am not some fly by night tax acct. Your IRS case worker is one of the worst at returning or even answering his phone.I also have approx 15-18 cases at any one time, and I can assure you, that at the end of my time working with these clients, they will all think I walk on water, as I see things thru, and usually with a winning bent. You have been very lax also when it came to this case. I mentioned to someone last week, when I wondered  aloud if this was very important to you. You say in your e-mail request that you think I may have put in an hour.In reading and answering e-mails, approx 2-3. In calling the IRS on your  behalf and in meeting you to pk up the retainer because you could not come to my office and the thinking and reading that I put into your case an hour was easily reached. As per the absolute average of what one in my profession with my experience and educational background charges as a fee per hour it is $175 per hour. I will gladly refund the difference $25 and chalk it up to live and learn. My aim was not to "steal" you $175, I would have liked to seen the case thru and earned $400-$500 which is what happens on 99.9999999999% of my cases. I will mail out to you the refund tomorrow

AS you can already guess I never even received the $25.00 . I can say for a fact at this point he never made 1 phone call to the IRS on my behalf . I asked for a detailed billing statement and never received anything he is back to not answering emails or phone calls . Also notice he claims I am lax  in this  after all the phone calls and emails I made to him pushing him every step of the way. I hired him to do the work how can I be lax. Also he states in the email that he discussed my case with other people I find this a huge invasion of privacy. Since then I have done a little research about David Hunter and cannot find anything to support any of the claims he makes in the email about his background as well I was unable to find a business license for his company registered with , Las Vegas or Clark County . So before you consider hiring David Hunter of IRS Tax Doctors do your research first.

David hunters professionalism

AUTHOR: Laura - ()

POSTED: Thursday, May 15, 2014

I have used David Hunters services for the past 8 years and before that his father, David is a great tax acct and avails himself completly, I have no problem if David needs to consult with a tax hotline it actually is comforting to know that David doesn't have something at his fingertips,  he can call and get clarification,  he's handled, my business taxes and my personal taxes and I recommend him to everybody, he is friendly, and hospitable,  and I enjoy spending time and honored that he lets me into his home to do my taxes, you have unfairly represented your problem as his mistake to fix. David is an honest, Christian man and truly cares about his clients and I count him as one of my friends,  he's gone above and beyond to help me in my taxes and will be forever greatful to count him as my tax accountant and a friend

Not quite true Stacey

AUTHOR: Ms. CEO Vegas - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, August 08, 2011

Well I was told this was here and I'm almost LMFAO. However a real good guy is being roasted here and I feel as if I owe him some love and support. My name is Jim Howard and I used/hired David Hunter to file an Offer in Compromise for me. I owed 93k to uncle Sam and truly couldn't pay the taxes. David Hunter charged me $1700 and did the offer, (my other quotes for the OIC were $5500, $6000, $3500 & $7000 so who is the con man?? 3 of the other quotes came from Tax Attorneys, the 3 highest quotes!!) saw it thru, kept me informed, jumped thru the many hoops the IRS is going to put anyone wanting to settle that size of debt for $2400. I'd say it took approx. 3 months for the offer to be accepted by the Internal Revenue Service. I now have a clean slate. David explained I have to be good for the next 5 years (file on time, no outstanding tax balances) or they will revoke the offer and I will be back to square one. I don't feel cheated, he has informed me of everything and I did not need a $7000 Tax Attorney to fix my IRS Tax problem. So Stacey from Dallas, you too are wrong in the comments you posted. I don't even know why you would respond with your no nothing, useless comment to this "conversation" when you live a 1000 miles away. I am commenting because I have first hand knowledge of one the the "players" in this drama. If you don't know first hand some facts that might help others base a highly personal and highly important decision, then I think it best not to comment.

What a load

AUTHOR: Stacey - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 07, 2011

Anyone who has a brain in their head knows that these so called "Tax" experts are nothing more than con artists (that is for you "employee ex or not).  The ONLY person(s) who can help you with a tax debt is a REAL Tax Attorney not some fly by nite con artist.  Who cares where to monies were exchanged?  The OP payed and got nothing.

OP Find a real Tax Attorney through your State Bar Association and you are correct - you got ripped off.  For further reference use a CPA for you tax needs.

From the Daughter of a CPA, niece of a Attorney and cousin of a Tax Attorney good luck to you and fight back

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Another side to the story, from an X-Employee

AUTHOR: Ms. CEO Vegas - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, August 07, 2011

To Rick the writer of the negative report on David Hunter, DBA The Hunter Co/IRS Tax Doctor I would like to Rebut your entire letter and the "facts" as you see them. I am a former employee and worked with Mr. Hunter until early June of this summer. (2011) I am familiar with your case as it was I who David spoke to regarding your lax attitude towards your business tax problem. Probably the same lax attitude toward taxation that caused the problem in the first place. Privacy and Mr. David Hunter's decency prevent me from disclosing any personal facts about you sir, but i read what you wrote and got incensed. I am going to pick apart your letter line item by line item, sir. I would like to say I am 61 years old and have worked for many a professionals and none of them were as knowledgeable or professional as David Hunter. Nor did any of them treat both staff and clients as well as David did, This is probably what led to the fact that prior to your whiney "review" which borders on libel, David Hunter and the Hunter co./IRS Tax Doctor NEVER had a single complaint lodged against him or his business. Anywhere! Ok on to your letter, Rick. You state early on that you contacted Mr. Hunter about your business tax problem and he called you back 12 hours later. You write this as if it took him 63 days to get back to you. In the world of grown ups and licensed professionals 12 hours is a good response time. How old was your tax problem? Was 12 hours going to make it worse? Was David responsible for the tax problem in the first place or were you calling him to fix the mess others created? You then state you showed up for the appt. at David's "run down" apartment. You thought it was an office you write. No sir, you could not have. When the appt. was made and you were given the directions/address and the gate code to enter the complex. Secondly Rick, Mr. Hunter's apartment home is in section 10 of Las Vegas Nv. Zip code is 89117. Have you checked out the property values in section 10 of Las Vegas Nv. or the 89117 zip code. The avg. home is $1.5 million in TODAY'S Values. The rent for David's Apartment is $1070 per month. Not to rundown and at 1244 sq. ft it's quite comfortable. Also David has fruit, & juice, & coffee/tea for every client, but since you showed up on the wrong day Rick, you never saw the inside. Its easy to lie when nobody needs any kind of proof or support to substantiate any of the "facts" of your letter. I am Mr. Hunters proof to the veracity or lack thereof of your complaint. Its odd you would question Mr. Hunter's professionalism because he works from his home. Something many tax accountants across America do. I don't know how many SEO Internet companies work from home. Google, Yahoo, AOL, Go Daddy etc. they all have offices I'm quite sure. But you and your SEO company, I will not name it so as to give you free marketing, you work from your home, don't you Rick. The home address and the business address are one and the same. I truly think you are a disgruntled taxpayer who cant get help in gaming the system so you are taking it out on someone. You have heard all the great stories of the near miracles David has done for so many people with the IRS and when he couldn't or didn't do one for you, you zeroed in on him as your target for your poison pen. Back to the pack of lies you use as a tool to injure a good tax professional. You state you sent you $200 to David and you spoke of some family emergency you were "giving David the benefit of the doubt on". No sir, You did not send the paymnt. to the office. You met David outside Health South Hospital, where his 85 yr old mom was a patient and you handed him the $200 check because you neither mailed it nor brought it to the office. Sir, there are so many misstatements of fact in your letter that no one who reads it should buy into anything you have to say. Anyone who reads this trash job of a letter is being dis-served by the content if they chose to base a decision to not see David Hunter and his Tax Accounting firm on this crap. You do not speak the truth. I asked David why he doesn't post a letter here trashing you and your company. He said because it wouldn't be true and ethical because he has never used you or your company. Ironic isn't it sir?
