I initially posted a review on Yelp, which can still be read, regarding my wife’s experience with Mr. Turner during a creditor defense case, JP Morgan Chase Bank v. J Li, filed in Seminole County. We hired him for legal representation, but the outcome was extremely disappointing. We felt his handling of the case was disorganized, lacked meaningful communication, and ultimately caused more harm than help.

After sharing that experience, Mr. Turner filed a defamation lawsuit against both of us in Seminole County. I responded with a counterclaim and filed a motion to dismiss under Florida’s Anti-SLAPP statute (§768.295), which protects individuals from lawsuits intended to suppress protected speech.

The court:

  • Denied Mr. Turner’s Emergency Motion for Injunction on April 11, 2025, which sought to force the removal of my review
  • Dismissed his lawsuit with prejudice on May 1, 2025, ruling in our favor under Anti-SLAPP protections

These decisions are a matter of public record. Despite this clear outcome, Mr. Turner has since filed an appeal of the court’s denial of his emergency injunction—not the overall dismissal of the lawsuit. While he has the right to appeal, the move raises concern, as it appears to continue a pattern of using the court system to pursue criticism beyond what the law permits.

Additionally, my Google review disappeared, and although Google’s own star rating breakdown shows that lower-rated reviews were submitted, those reviews are now missing—yet the overall profile still reflects a 5-star average. This may not violate policy, but it’s something others should be aware of.

I have filed a formal complaint with the Florida Bar regarding what I believe is a pattern of retaliatory and unethical conduct.

Based on our experience and Mr. Turner’s prolonged attempts to suppress honest criticism, I strongly recommend that anyone considering his services review the public case filings and legal history before deciding

Respect, Resolution, and Moving Forward

AUTHOR: Ethan - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 28, 2025

After giving it a lot of thought, I decided to reach out to James Turner with the hope of resolving things peacefully. I believed — and still believe — that finding resolution through mutual respect is far more meaningful than prolonging conflict.

To his credit, Mr. Turner was open, understanding, and willing to engage in a calm and constructive conversation. We both came into it with different experiences and perspectives, but with a shared desire to move forward without animosity.

I recognize that in today’s world, protecting one’s reputation and livelihood is not easy, especially in a profession as demanding as his. I respect that. At the same time, I appreciated the opportunity to be heard and to bring closure to a difficult chapter.

In the end, we reached a peaceful, respectful agreement — and I’m genuinely glad we did. I’ve since stepped away from the matter completely and wish Mr. Turner continued strength and success in his work
