My appointment for a routine dental cleaning was with Dr. William Caldwell, DMD. I need periodontal deep cleaning due to gum problems. A woman, who assumed was the hygienist, got me seated in the chair. I asked where Dr. Caldwell was, since he normally is the first to greet the patient. She stated that Dr. Caldwell "cut way back" on his hours and she was taking over the North Andover practice. I was given no notice of this change. She did a lousy job with the cleaning, told me I needed two caps ($1,800 each!) and charged me $234 for the visit! She spent about 10 minutes with me! I found out later that Dr. Caldwell is retiring soon, is currently practicing in New Hampshire and did not notify his patients of his plans. Another dentist at a different practice told me that I did not need any caps. I definitely got ripped off and lied to. This is how they treat their patients; sneak around and lie!
