DM ROOFING SERVICE Derek Moss Took $2350 to replace roof and never came back. Berlin New Hampshire

Derek Moss was the only roofer who returned my call and I was desparate.  The only other company to call me kept pulling no shows until recently.  

Derek came to the house twice to look at the roof and walked around on it.   He checked the attic as well.    He showed recognition that I needed immediate repairs and agreed to get back to start work as soon as he could.   

On November 9th, 2023, he emailed me to say he was coming by my house to get a down payment and said he could start work within about two weeks.   I got him check from the bank which does not really protect customers from being scammed.   I think I fell victim because I was desparate to get rid of the roof leaks and being desparate, I believed everything.  Don't make the same mistake I made.  

When I had not heard from him, I called and suceeded in reaching him.   He told me that after measuring my roof, he needed to order the materials.  This was confusing because the last entity to give me a new roof on my last house had supplies on hand within a few days and was finished within a week.   

We have Lowes and Home Depot right near here and I see no reason for this delay in getting supplies. 

I agreed to wait with the date being near the end of November.   When he didn't contact me, I tried emailing him several times and got no answer.    I tried calling him several times and still got no answer.    It is now almost five weeks later and I have not heard from him.    

The leaks in my roof are getting worse and someone told me I have the beginnings of mold in the attic from the leaks.  

I tried to look him up on Google and he does not have any identity there like other contractors.    I looked on Better Business Bureau and could not find him. 

I feel like an idiot because I did not continue searching for information about him before giving him my money. 

When I realized I had been scammed, I looked on the State of New Hampshire website and found his business name and found it was "rejected."     

The address on their website reads Berlin but the address he gave me  was a P.O. Box in Center Conway.   He still has the same phone number listed with the Dept of State but not the same address.
