When I was seeking a hip surgeon in November of 2023, I asked several doctor offices in Pensacola. They said how GREAT Dr. Mai was, well I found out the hard way he was not so great. He did some work on me and I quickly learned because I had Medicare, not Blue Cross, and he couldn't make all the money he felt "entitled to" I was shuffled like a cattle call, a pound of flesh. Zero bedside manner, he was irritated and impatient when I needed questions answered and was beyond cocky and egotistical. He is ALL about MONEY $$$. I've talked to other former patients who said the same thing. SHOP AROUND. FIND ANOTHER SURGEON. Don't settle. He's not the best. He thinks he is, but his arrogance is beyond understanding. In a simple follow up, he made me wait over 2 hrs, charged me over $300.00 Medicare didn't cover. I got to see 'his majesty' about 2 mins before he rushed out the door totally uncaring. SHOP AROUND. Don't take my word for it. Now, if you have top of the line insurance, he will treat you NICE. But, not everyone has Blue Cross. Shop Around. I have decided to seek at attorney based on the way he treated me and ruined my hip that he brags so much about having the latest 'anterior' approach which incidentally is not novel. Most surgeons do it today. He is a total rip off!!!
