Eastern Maine Medical Center Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center Refusal to pay agreed upon paycheck Bangor Maine

When I worked for Eastern Maine Medical Center between December of 2018- March 2021, I had started my tenure there under good impressions of the company.

starting very soon after my starting date however I had already been completely saturated with constant drama from coworkers and management alike usually of a personal and unprofessional nature. Oftentimes I would have people attempt to stop me from working so they could talk about their daily lives outside of work and even though it usually came from supervisors that we're doing this I would still get written up for "not doing my job".

throughout my tenure I constantly felt as though I was working as the principal in a high school but everyone else were the students forming their own cliques and starting their own drama. It got to the point where people who I barely knew there would approach me and tell me about what employee A said about employee B and once again this oftentimes came from coworkers AND supervisors alike.

A huge issue with the company as well is that they will give you enough tasks for the day to fill up 2 or 3 employees days and then get mad enough at you if you miss even one task to pull you into the office and either have a serious discussion with you about not fully completing your job or even writing you up for being unable to complete the days tasks.

There were many times when I would be told to take out all of the trash in the hospital as was my job but also help clean other things such as bathrooms and hallways and if second and third shift didn't do their jobs (which they rarely did as there isn't too many supervisors on night shift) I was told to also pick up any and all trash that they missed as well.

I had so many days there where I felt completely exhausted from working at a hospital especially during a pandemic that when people would come up to me to talk politics or drama I would shut down and go into bathrooms to cry because of how unnecessarily stressful the job would get As a result of coworkers and especially management.

One thing that really bothered me about the hospital was that after the director of housekeeping left her position (Candy) and new guy named Chris became the director but because he was also in charge of 3 other departments the Environmental Services Department at that hospital became somewhat like a rogue department onto its own.

I had witnessed many examples of HIPAA violations and sanitary issues there that I have told loved ones to not go get treatment at Eastern Maine Medical Center and to go to any other hospital instead.

On one occasion as I was improperly trained in how to handle CDiff. Contaminated diarrhea I had used bleach wipes to pick up a highly infectious pool of said diarrhea one day in the CAT Scanning department on Grant 2 without realizing that it was not sufficient to kill that bacteria and that I was actually supposed to use another chemical, by the time I had found out however the room had already serviced 1 or 2 patients that I personally saw firsthand walking by and they easily could have gotten terribly sick by even being in that room.

Ultimately I left the hospital in March of 2021 because of after having to deal with a specific coworker who decided to spread false rumors about me and 2 other coworkers of mine about things we never said about 3 OTHER coworkers and their work ethics and being falsely accused of having a "gross make out session" (that is exactly how it was described by HR and the EVS manager in the conference room where they were investigating it- yes I know that that is not professional at all)

I quit as I could no longer handle the vast amount of unnecessary immaturity, unprofessionalism and downright legal violations that occur at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
