ED Magedson RANT! "WTF! political signs have got to go!” Politicians litter our streets with ugly signs, cities and counties across American need to start charging a fee to put them up and a fee for every day after the election they litter our streets, Washington DC

What the F! ... Politician signs are out of control.

They litter our streets, they look like absolute crap.

What really sucks is while these signs are allowed, a new start-up business in a shopping center, hidden, set back off the street and hidden by trees cities require and to add insult to injury they don’t all a business to even place a nice sign out in front to bring in new customers without getting a ticket or their sign confiscated.

Ironically it’s the same politicians, who litter our streets with these political signs, later send out their zoning inspectors, to write tickets to business owners, who are simply trying to bring in new business with an attractive sign.

What the F! What am I missing here? Talk about hypocrites.

Shopping center signs are blocked by trees. Businesses are begging for business. And cannot afford to advertise.

And/or likely they have no sign on the main road, and desperately need help.

This is absolutely unfair. Political signs cause accidents every year.

They blow into our streets causing not only car accidents, they also cause both pedestrians walking tripping over them along with cyclists who are on bikes who have many accidents.

These signs should be banned altogether. They’re not even necessary.

They are not educating anyone about the views of the politicians. They are a complete farce.

Yesterday I counted the same sign 38 times in less than a mile stretch..

There should be some sort of limit per corner. Like a 4 sign limit. Whoever gets there first, submitting their permits for that corner, gets that corner for their sign, and up to only 4 signs.

These political signs are flimsy. These signs should be built properly. The city should require these politicians to have some sign specifications, so the signs don’t blow into the street.

What about charging them a permit fee? And what a great way to raise money for your community.

This one’s a must. What about charging fees for every day after the election is over they pay a fee. Any sign that is left out 32 hours after polls are closed can be picked up by a citizen…return those signs to city hall, and bill the politicians. The people colleting the signs make money picking up the signs.



Just think of all the money that would be raised to pay for school programs and other things in your community.

Another thing. Allow any business in a shopping center to put out by the street, secure attractive sandwich signs, that would have to be picked up at the end of each day. Each sign would have a fee that that they would pay for like 6 months at a dollar a day. Think of all the revenue that cities would collect.

Most important. Politicians are not trying to get elected on their record or the issues they stand for, they are playing on the voters memory.

We all know seeing their names just enough times to get their vote counting on name recognition this is ridiculous. Just plain wrong. Politicians should get their votes based on their agenda and not some name recognition by littering our streets.

Have more debates. Let the right politician win for the right reasons.
