In recent times, there has been a surge in fraudulent activities targeting E-ZPass users, with scammers employing increasingly sophisticated tactics to deceive unsuspecting individuals. One such deceptive practice involves the website e-zpassny.com-zexm.xin/us, which has been implicated in disseminating fraudulent text messages.

Recipients of these messages are informed of an alleged outstanding toll balance, accompanied by threats of penalties or legal action if payment is not made by a specified date. The message typically instructs recipients to reply with "Y" and then reopen the SMS to activate a link, or to copy the provided link into their browser to proceed with payment. Such messages are crafted to induce a sense of urgency, pressuring individuals into immediate action without due diligence.

It is imperative to recognize that these communications are fraudulent. Legitimate toll agencies, including E-ZPass, do not solicit payments or personal information through unsolicited text messages containing unofficial links. Engaging with these messages or clicking on the embedded links can lead to the compromise of personal and financial information.Asbury Park Press+5ABC7 New York+5New York Post+5

Recommendations to Safeguard Against Such Scams:

  • Verify the Source: Authentic communications from E-ZPass will originate from official channels. If uncertain about the legitimacy of a message, contact E-ZPass directly using contact information from their official website.

  • Avoid Clicking on Suspicious Links: Refrain from interacting with links or responding to unsolicited messages claiming to be from toll agencies.New York Post+1The Telegraph+1

  • Report Suspicious Communications: Notify local law enforcement or consumer protection agencies about suspected scam messages to aid in public awareness and prevention efforts.

By maintaining vigilance and adhering to these precautions, individuals can protect themselves from falling victim to such fraudulent schemes.
