I own a business and receive lots of spam from people offering me merchant cash advances. I received a text message from someone claiming to be “Robert Wilson. “They said they were a private investor offering loans. I told them to send me their information and license information.
They sent me a one page form asking for my bank acct info and tax returns, and for a license they sent a sales tax license from the state of NY. I contacted the business listed on the sales tax and they confirmed it was NOT them contacting me, and that they had previously been scammed by this company . I suspect they use the information sent to them to continue the scam.
I received ANOTHER solicitation from someone claiming to be Eric David Stevenson with the same letter. That scammer sent me a drivers license to prove their identity . I’m sure it was also a scam. Both scammers used gmail addresses.
Don’t send this scammer your personal ID..
