I was a friend of the owners and was looking to help them grow their business. I was skeptical after reading some of their reviews from subcontractors claiming that they had never been paid, but when I asked the Johns about it they convinced me that those were anomalies. I should have followed my instincts.

After introducing them to friends of mine, they collected deposits for work that was to be done, and DISAPPEARED with the money. They have no explanation for where it went...sounds ridiculous right? That is what they told me and the people I introduced them to: They put the check in the bank, and then it was gone. 20 thousand dollars. Gone.

If you do 5 minutes worth of digging, you will see that these guys have long list of pissed of clients and pissed of subcontractors. They originally tried scamming the State of Massachusetts by "rehabilitating" te town where they grew up. When that plan failed, they switched to ripping off home owners and su contractors. This is a very dangerous company. They will be shut down. Stay far away.

The only thing not representing the TRUTH in any way, is Jon’s rebuttal to my complaint. His assertion that “we have never taken a deposit from a client and disappeared” is misleading. Perhaps he didn’t “disappear,” but one thing is for certain, he didn’t pay contractors for work performed. This is not disputed by Jon, as he’s already admitted to owing me $6,000 (see attachments to my previous rebuttal). This money that I PAID on behalf of GOFIXXIT to subcontractors to protect my reputation for work performed on jobs that GOFIXXIT received deposits for, then failed to pay subcontractors directly. The subcontractors did their jobs, and GOFIXXIT failed them. Not only did they fail to pay direct expenses on jobs they took deposits on, they also changed the terms of our working arrangement and added administrative e expenses to show a loss, thereby wiping out earned profit from our relationship.

-I have all the receipts.

-I have all the jobs #’s.

-I have detailed accounting of every penny.

-I have blank checks, tied to accounts with $0 balances meant to repay me.

-I have emails from Jon stating that $23,000 that was supposed to be deposited into a separate account for CT business, was instead deposited into their main account under Cobalt Construction (none of that money was transferred back)

-I have a text exchange with another subcontractor that Jon screwed out of over $1,000, promising to pay him (a year later)

-I have emails from the attorney representing GOFIXXIT that his clients weren’t responding to HIM.

-I have emails from Jon, using MY MONEY THAT HE ADMITS HE OWES ME as leverage to force me to take-down negative reviews and complaints of all of this. HE refuses to pay me MY MONEY until I remove the posts, allowing him to do the same to another unsuspecting victim.

Alas, it will cost me more to fight in court than it’s worth. I’d rather not receive my money than allow Jon Daskum, John Laquale and GOFIXXIT to be able to suppress THE TRUTH and allow them to hurt someone else. In my opinion, there’s no lower life form than these two. BE WARNED!!!

Just because you have a few positive testimonials doesn’t mean you won’t cut & run when the going gets tough!!

Reading this complaint is upsetting, because I posted my complaint in September of 2019 in the hope that others might avoid the experience I had with GoFixxIt, Jon Daskum, and John Laquale. 

While I have no knowledge of this complaint, I have filed a similar complaint that can be viewed here:

After over 15 months, Jon Daskum, John Laquale and GoFixxIt have STILL not paid me over $6,000 in direct expenses that I paid to subcontractors on their behalf. This is money JON ADMITTED owing me, in writing, in an email following dissolving my relationship with them over their failure to pay bills or communicate effectively. At first, Jon told me he needed to finish his accounting of our relationship to accurately account for all of the costs. That concluded back in October of 2019. After endless excuses and delays, I retained an attorney to get my money back. Their attorney sent a "Confidential Settlement Agreement" to my attorney on 3/18/20. On April 2, 2020, we received an email from their counsel stating: "attempted to contact the client several times and have received no response." My last correspondence with their attorney was on May 5, 2020 and stated the the following: "I have not received a response from our client. I will continue to follow-up with them. My sincere apologies for the delay. This is not how I practice, I can assure you."

Over the past few days I've been in contact with CEO Jon Daskum in an effort to put this issue behind us. I was willing to accept the $6,000 figure, and forgo an additional $9,354.49, my portion of accumulated profits that we earned together on 16 jobs over the course of a year (Jon asserts there was no profit). Jon indicated multiple times throughout our discussion that he would pay me MY MONEY if I removed "negative reviews" on the internet, including the on that I linked above. Despite making NO ATTEMPT to dispute or rebut any of my claims in over 15 months, he has baselessly claimed that my comments are "defamation of character and slander" (Jon knows that opinions and factual statements are neither). I asked Jon to point out ANY UNTRUE statement or any comment that isn't 100% factual and I would be happy to remove it. He has not responded to any of my requests. His Final ultimatum was that I remove "all negative reviews" FIRST, in order for him to pay me money that he's already agreed he owes me. In short, Jon is attempting to use MY MONEY in order to leverage me to remove factual posts that are uncomfortable for him.

What I find extremely sad about this new complaint, is that the person who posted it claims to have been a friend of Jon, just as I was. I helped Jon out early in his career and we worked together. I will pose this question; If this is how he treats his 'friends', how might he treat those who are merely clients? I have no doubt that Jon will cite many clients that are happy and/or subcontractors that he has paid, but it doesn't discount those he hasn't. I encourage anyone to checkout the many reviews online with similar claims of non-payment.

I am agreeable to binding arbitration, but it's looking like I will be forced to bring a lawsuit to recover ALL of the money I feel Jon Daskum and John Laquale owe me.  

Jon Daskum:

Perhaps you can explain to the world why you find it appropriate to hold my money hostage, money that you've already agreed you owe me, based on jobs that you took deposits on and failed to pay sub-contractors (or me) for the work that was done on those jobs? For instance, the final job we worked on together, GFI was paid $9,376.50 for the initial 50% deposit, and as of the date of this post, they have paid only one contractor on that job (SpecSurf painting) a total of $1,700 (Job#2019-017-CT) My expenses on that job were $15,232.16 and I collected the final payments.

The following Report does not represent the TRUTH in anyway.  We have never taken a deposit from a client and dissapeared.  We assist clients on a daily basis with all that they need accomplished.  Just today this was a quote from one of our clients "Thank you so much for taking such good care of Barbara and her home repairs.  I truly appreciate all your TEAM did to get it done so quickly" 

Regarding the inquiry regarding the owners taking money from their hometown again is not based on facts and merely speculation, lies and missrepresentation due to some grievance.  I welcome anyone to contact us directly at project@gofixxit.com and we'll be happy to provide you all the information you need to make an informed decision.  We'd also suggest you speak with the town of Attleboro, MA and you'll find we were the start of the most recent resurgence and received an award from the Town, special thanks and praise.
