Flip Shop Misled Us and Caused Over $12,000 in Losses – Sellers Beware El Segundo California

We are a small business that onboarded with Flip Shop as a seller, listing two brands on their marketplace platform. What we believed would be a new opportunity quickly turned into a deeply misleading and financially damaging experience, resulting in a loss exceeding $12,000.

At the start, Flip Shop’s support team provided us with only basic instructions on how to upload and list products. There was no mention of their “Offer to Help” (OTH) program — a system that gives products away for free to influencers in exchange for reviews. We were never informed of this program during onboarding, even though Flip claims that all sellers are told up front.

While listing one of our products, our team unknowingly checked the OTH box, as there was no explanation or warning about what it entailed. We began receiving orders shortly afterward and fulfilled each one promptly through our Shopify integration. Every order appeared normal, showing full payment breakdowns, including Flip’s fees and our revenue.

After a month — Flip’s stated payment period — we contacted them about our expected payout. That’s when we were informed that most of our orders were unpaid, part of the OTH program, and we would not be compensated. We were shocked.

The Flip dashboard never flagged any order as part of OTH or indicated that they were giveaways. In fact, revenue data appeared for each order, making them look like paid transactions. We asked why this critical information wasn’t clear and were told the only way to confirm whether an order was paid or not is to manually contact support with each order ID — a completely unrealistic expectation for any seller managing a high volume of orders.

We also learned Flip had sent multiple products per influencer, without our knowledge or approval. When we questioned this, they gave us no response.

Trying to salvage something from this situation, we turned to the influencer video reviews we received — only to find that roughly 85% were completely irrelevant. The videos included unrelated content: cooking tutorials, dancing, date nights, sports footage, and other brands' promotions. Many didn’t even feature or mention our product.

When we asked to download the videos (since we had already lost money on the products), Flip began deleting them without explanation.

At this point, we tried escalating our concerns, only to be met with silence. Flip has no phone support, and getting even a single reply from their team took multiple messages a day — often going completely ignored.

After we mentioned we were considering legal action due to their lack of accountability, Flip suspended one of our brands without notice. They also withheld payments from orders that we know were actually paid, denying us access to legitimate revenue.

Thankfully, we managed to save screenshots and documentation of the misleading videos and communications before the suspension.

In researching further, we found other sellers who have experienced the same pattern: confusion over the OTH program, unpaid orders, unhelpful support, and account suspension once they started asking questions or challenging the platform.
