General Steel Corporation Denver Colorado

I first heard of General Steel from the radio. According to their ad I thought I would give them a shot as to keeping the cost to construct a garage cheaper than the traditional stick built. Upon getting the information and a quote as to the garage I would want, they wanted a deposit immediately because they said the price of steel was going up and they would not be able to offer the price after 2 days. I explained to them that I needed financing eventhough I had it through my bank but my bank will not fund monies until the unit iscompletely constructed. This was explained in detail to their salesman and he assured me that he could getr me finaced. They had me fax over my entire 2006 tax returns personal and business. Financing supplied by GSC was the only way that I could but this garage in which they were totally aware of. After submitting the tax returns I patiently waited for an answer.They heldthe price the same until i could get an answer. # days went by and no answer. I asked the saleman who was helping me to check and see what was going on. Even he was suprised that I had not received an answer. On the 4th day salesperson was ansy himself and called to the finace dept for an answer and they told him the I was approved. At that point I sent them a faxed check for $4500.00 to get the ball rolling. Now when we had discuss the price it was suppose to have included concrete and erection cost because I explicitly ask the salesperson that I wanted to know the entire cost of the project before I agreed to start. Not only that they said that they had preferred contractors that they deal with on a continual that would give me preferred pricing. I was hesitant because I live in Southern california and the cost are high. According to our plans this garage was bigger and better and cheaper that the stick built. Everything was going fine until October and then I got a call from an outside lender stating that they were asked by GSC to help get me approved for a loan. I was shocked and I told him that GSC had already approved me. He stated that no I wasn't and I had to fill out and application. To make a long story short they lied completely to me and never approved me. I called GSC management and asked them what was going on because I got approval from their finance department. Their mgt denied that and said that i was never approved. They new that they had verbally approved me because why would they had taken it amongst themselves after 5 months to send my package out for financing? Someone had dropped the ball and lied. They approved me only to get my deposit and they would deal with me later. Not only that they never had any contractor that worked with them in Southern California. The project manager went online to get a quote for concrete and erection from a contractor 100 miles away. They refused to return my deposit. They are liars and cheats. K j Culver City, California
