First, let me start by stating that I am not the first to fall victim to granite expo in south holland illinois. There are several lawsuits of record in cook county illinois and several consumer complaints of record with the village of south holland. Of course I wss not aware of any of this prior giving my money to this company.
In March 2014, I entered into an agreement to have Granite Expo install granite countertops in my kitchen. I had gone to two other stone fabricators. Granite expo bid significantly less than the other two for the same granite. That should have been a warning signal. But, I assumed the other two companies were overpriced. Little did I know this was Granite Expos way of getting a deposit.
They asked for 70% down and I refused. I have read reviews where they asked others for 100%!! I gave them $2600 on March 10, 2014. The first person I dealt with was Leah Traya. She also uses the name Evelyn Traya. So who knows her true identity. The second person was Mike Kosyla. Week after week they promised to install the granite.
Finally on April 16, 2014, they informed me that they could not install the granite for the contracted price. I asked for a refund. Week after week Leah and Mike promised to refund my money. Every day I was told the next day or the next week. They have both denied having any ownership interest and said the owner has to give me my refund. I have never seen this ghost owner and they won't give me his information. Get the picture? This is their mode of operation. Get deposits but perform no work.
To date,(July 8, 2014) they still owe me $1800 and they said they won't give me the balance unless I remove my comments from Yelp and other social media sites. What nerve! So beware of the rip off. They will undercut the competition, get your money and you will not get nothing but promises and lies in return.
My next step is the attorney general, lawsuit and criminal complaint. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH GRANITE EXPO IN SOUTH HOLLAND ILLINOIS!
