Complaint Review: Honda of Superstition Springs - Mesa AZ
Honda of Superstition Springs Superstition Springs Honda uyer Beware: Has anyone dealt with Honda Of Superstition Springs? Mesa AZ
*Consumer Comment: You Don't Have Any Clue, Do You?
I wanted to write you and let you know about my experience at Super Honda Dealership in Mesa, Az. I came into this store on 12/29/19 to look at purchasing a 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L through the Costco Auto Program.
I scheduled an appointment ahead with John Sims. The experience started out phenomenal and I was really impressed at first. John showed me several vans and was even went out of his way to follow me to my house at Signal Butte and Baseline to show my wife who was home with the kids two options we had selected.
This was amazing customer service and spoke volumes to the man I believe Mr. Sims is. After showing my wife the two options, we decided on a 2019 Lunar Silver Metallic Honda Odyssey EX-L with the mocha interior with the only issue being the car would need to be shipped from Yuma.
This was no issue as John stated I could do all the paperwork and sign the purchase agreement and the car would be here the next day. (I have attached the original purchase order above). I went to Finance and was greeted by a short bald male with glasses and mustache.
We were going through the paperwork and I saw the finance was 4.25% I stated this seemed high based off my credit. He said they would look to see if they could do better, but to sign for now and then they would look. I noticed the lease amount was wrong as it stated $16,384.33 and we had agreed to $16,000. He said, “the guys upfront are lazy I will call and have this fixed”.
They sent it back over and said the best they could do is $16,000.49 which just felt like them trying to mess with me which I just ignored. I signed the paperwork and then he goes okay your good to go. I said, “What about looking for a better interest rate?” He stated I did, and this is the best we can do. I felt this was sneaky as he had told me 2 min ago, we would look for a better rate. This is when my positive experience started deteriorating fast. I received emails from Super Honda thanking me for my purchase and thought things were a done deal.
I had been doing research throughout the week along with my wife trying to be as informed as possible when making a purchase and I guess a TrueCar notification was sent out to all member dealerships of my search after I had already signed with John. I immediately received a snarky email from John saying
Good morning. I see you are still looking for the Odyssey. You are putting me in jeopardy of not getting the vehicle by working with the dealerships who have the vehicle that I am trading with. If you don’t want to purchase the vehicle from me, just let me know. Auto Nation said they were working a deal on the color, so I have to get it elsewhere.
How am I putting something in jeopardy that you already sold me and told me would be getting transferred from Yuma Honda? I told John I already signed and agreed to a deal with him I am no longer looking, this was an old True Car Search.
He responded and said he would let me know when the “Vehicle is secured”. I found this odd as I already had a VIN and signed purchase agreement but was sure the vehicle would be here Monday. Monday comes and John says he still hasn’t secured a vehicle and asked if I would be interested in a used one that I looked at on 12/29/19 if they did touchup painting.
I said No, I would like what I purchased. After several calls and emails, he said he would find something. At 12:52 PM on 12/30/19 I finally get a text saying John is headed to pick up the vehicle and they asked me to arrive at the dealership by 5:45 PM and I would be in and out. The processes took over 3 hours more which really pissed me off as I told them I had an appointment and now I had to miss it.
I resigned all the paperwork and due to a new Vin Number and dealt with an amazing finance gentleman from Iraq that has been with the company for 13 years. (They need more people like him, he was polite and genuine and a pleasure to work with) He went above and beyond for me. He was able to change my rate to 3.50 interest rate and was genuine when thanking me for my time and business.
I was also very unhappy about one form I was forced to sign (Delivery Report). This report they said was mandatory for me to sign, yet the paperwork says I am Voluntarily purchasing the said options and are Not in any way required by the seller. I had no options for this but was in fact required to purchase this in order to complete the transaction. This seems unethical to have me sign something that I am being forced to purchase and not Voluntarily purchasing.
