I was living there for about 10 years when I decided to move after rent was increasing to more than a mortgage cost. The initial inspection (supposed to be 3 inspections before moving out) second inspection even better. This lady was checking front and backs of doors, she was using a fine tooth comb and all she said I needed left to do was some minor cleaning (ex: I missed the ceiling fan blades in the living room) Otherwise, the house was in great shape.
During the time I was residing on the Air Force Academy, any time anything was broken, I immediately contacted them and they would fix it. Even having to temporarily move me to another house while the kitchen and bathroom had to be completely renovated before the walls and floors deteriorated on us. The houses there were built in 1958 and still had the original clay pipes until the ones in my basement (the main to our duplex was in my basement) ruptured and flooding my basement, destroying my property. It was winter and they moved the items then outside into the carport during a snow storm. This is so you know, the house was falling apart already.
on the last day there, my 80 year old father was there as well as my adult son to help me move, the Rental agent came for the final inspection but because my dad was sitting in the living room in a chair, she said she would return. I told her it would take a second to put the chair on the truck n load my father into the car. She told me she would be back shortly. After waiting a couple of hours, we HAD TO get on the road, so we drove up to the Rental management building where the staff were socializing at their desks. I told them I was waiting for her to return and they told me that she had left for the day. They told me that everything was fine and I was set to go. I turned in my keys and we were off. I settled my electric bill with Minol as I always had, evencalled and confirmed my balance was paid off and a 0-balance. However, shortly after I arrived into my new home, I started receiving calls saying that I owed money for cleaning and pet damage.
THERE WAS NO PET DAMAGE AND I HAD THE PLACE SPOTLESS. The agent even complimented me on how nice I had the home during that second inspection, telling me how a lot of people aren't as clean as I am. Now I am being contacted by a collection team who also has noticed that almost all the people they are contacting on behalf of this rental company are saying the same things I am. My neighbors from the Academy have also been in contact with me telling me how they are trying similar tactics with them and I know these people are clean and respectful of their homes as I was a guest in them. they are not military personnell, but a civilian contracted company who are a bunch of scammers.
