I went to test drive a vehicle on this company's lot, but was offered a fully refundable deposit option to "reserve" the car for two days before I got there. I drove the car the next day and later verbally agreed to purchase it. However, I decided not to purchase the vehicle within the window of their reservation.
They claim they lost business during their self-imposed reservation window, of which this fully refundable deposit option is their policy, and told me they were only going to refund $100 of the $500 deposit. Not the deal, not what was communicated, and not ethical or moral. They tried to steal my money for no reason and this needs to serve as a report so that any potential customer of theirs is extremely cautious if trying to do business with this entity. Beware.

Payment of a deposit on a vehicle without a prior test-drive is rather foolish. Does the written documentation included with your deposit receipt state that the deposit is fully refundable?
The seller removed the vehicle from the market due to your deposit. They may have lost a potential sale as a result.
You stated that the seller did not honor the deal as communicated but you admit that you also failed to honor a verbal commitment. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
