Jeffrey Abatayo is a scam artist who preys on elderly retirees like me. My name is Deogracias Camungol, an 80-year old retired professional. I met Jeffrey Abatayo in May 2016 during our boys night-out in Union NJ. He presented his high frequency trading system which he claimed had generated high profits, and he was offering it to selective close friends only. I said "no" to him, but later at another business presentation in the evening, he approached my wife who came from a neighbouring hometown in Cebu, and convinced her to invest in his high-return investment scheme.

He offered us 30% return on our initial investment of around $3K. He gave us a 1-year post-dated check for around $4K. We waited for 1-year to pass and we were able to encash the check with no issue.  A-week later, Jeffrey Abatayo called back to discuss an open slot for investment.  He visited us at our home to present this opportunity. Since the previous check cleared, he was able to convince us to invest $2300 for 30% return to cover the open slot. He wrote us a 1-year post-dated check for $3K which is attached below.

2-weeks later, He called back again to inform us of another open slot for $6K investment because another investor cash-in his investment.  At this time, he issued another 1-year post-dated check for $8K which is attached below.  A year later, We tried to encash the $3K check on May 23rd, 2018 but the bank told us that there is insufficient funds. So I contacted Jeffrey to inform him of this situation. And he told me to wait until June 6th, 2018 when the $8K check will be due.

On June 5th, a day before the due date, he told me not to encash the checks. I waited for a month, and asked him again, and was told not to encash the checks because he was still looking for other investors to buy my slots. From then on, I kept asking him every month with the same response from him until finally in August 2021, while I was recovering from my open heart surgery, I told him that I got cardiac arrest before the operation, and I was flatlining for 6 minutes before the doctor and nurses revived me.

When I woke up, the doctor told me that I was lucky that I survived. Probably God Almighty gave me another chance to collect on my overdue checks from Jeffrey Abatayo.  After hearing my story, Jeffrey told me that he would pay the full amount he owed me plus the interest at the end of 2021. I thanked him and waited until the end of 2021.

On Jan 1st, 2022,  since I did not hear from Jeffrey Abatayo, I called and got his voice mail. I left him many voice messages since then but never got any reply. I thank this site for allowing me to tell my story. My hope is that we will be able to resolve this problem as soon as possible, and that no other families will be hurt by Jeffrey Abatayo.
