This guy’s is an experienced con artist and a thief. He is also very knowledgeable about all sorts of construction but don’t let that fool you – he’s been in jail multiple times!

This guy replied to my ad to build a patio in my backyard. His reply was the most thorough and technically sound so I invited him for an onsite review. He came by with his little daughter and laid out a very good design for a reasonable price.

He then helped me to get the design approved with HOA. By the contract he wrote, I was to pay him an initial amount so that he could buy and deliver the materials. Then I would pay him three more sums until the project was complete. This sounded OK to me but I then realized that I should have had him find the materials and then I should have bought them myself in person or over the phone. Then I could have paid him in stages as he would work on the project.

               After he got my first check he cashed it at Moneytree instead of depositing. Moneytree people did call me but they only wanted to confirm that I wrote it and what it was for. They did not warn me about his record or anything and then cashed the check. Why this guy was not on Moneytree’s black list already and why they did not warn me still puzzles me.

               Also puzzling is that two days after he cashed the check he came did some work on the backyard and left some tools before disappearing. After that he came up with all sorts of pretty believable excuses which is why I think he’s a pro con artist. In the end, his final excuse was that his two assistants got sick with Covid and he could not complete the project and would deliver the materials and return my money.

               Eventually, he sent me a check for $1,000, so he still owes me $2,000 minus, maybe, a hundred dollars, for a half-day’s work he did.
