Just Love Coffee Cafe Tracy Vitela Refused to pay for time worked after giving notice TN Mount Juliet

My 16 year old daughter worked for Just love Coffee Cafe in Mount Juliet TN for 2 weeks and 2 days, it was not a good fit so she gave a notice via an app that the company used for all communication with employees. She asked if they would like her to work a two week notice and the response was they deleted her from the app and never answered the question so she did not go back.

Her last day was March 8th and they did not pay her the last two days she worked as well as shorted her over 10 hours for the week prior.  I first let my daughter try to handle this in a mature way as a learning experience but soon saw that this company's owner had no intention on paying her after she gave her notice so I stepped in and also got no where after speaking with Tracy, one of the owners several times.

The Department of Labor has now stepped in. Suprisingly after the DOL called it seems the owner regained her memory and agreed she had not been paid for the last two days she worked but did not agree to pay her the hours shorted the week before. She also stated she would not pay her the rate she was hired at but only pay her at minimum wage, over a $2 decrease per hour.

We decided if they could live with it then so could we, maybe they need the 100 bucks worse than a 16 year old. They told the DOL the check would be direct deposited on 4/15/22 (over a month from her last day with the company) which did not happen. The DOL has reached out several times since to only have the owner avoid them with no response.

Next will be Rippoff.com, Facebook, Better Business Bureau, Instagram, etc. as it is purely about principle now...All over a measly $200. Bad business to support in my opinion. Wonder how many teens this has happened to?
