I signed my dog up for a four-week boarding and training program and paid a  50% deposit of $1850 early. The contract called for the deposit to be made when I dropped my dog off.  In the end, I rescheduled and then canceled the training more than four months in advance due to permanent and unforeseen health issues with my dog (he is having double-hip replacement). If I had waited until the actual drop-off date, the deposit wouldn’t have been due until then, but because I paid early, the company is now refusing to refund any of the money.

Despite giving ample notice and having to cancel for reasons outside my control, they cite a no-refund policy in the contract and are refusing to return any portion of my deposit. I even requested a compromise—half of the $1850—and was denied. They offered alternative services that, according to my veterinarian, would not work or would not be needed for my dog post-surgery.

I find it unfair, unreasonable, and just wrong for a company to keep all of my money when I canceled so far in advance due to genuine health concerns. Their inflexible policy and lack of compassion in this situation are very disappointing especially, when we are dealing with such catastrophic health issues with a family member. I cannot recommend this company based on their lack of compassion and refusal to come to a financial compromise, especially when I am in this situation simply because I paid early.

Apparently it wasn't "unfair" and "unreasonable" when you signed up for the service but now, all of a sudden it is. Did you even bother to READ that contract BEFORE you agreed to the refund terms? What do you think that CONTRACT is for? It GOVERNS the conducting of the service and is a legally enforceable document in a Court of Law. What is wrong with you people? YOU AGREED TO THOSE TERMS and they were nice enough to offer you an alternative. If you don't like the Terms And Conditions of an Agreement, DO NOT AGREE TO THEM.
