Key 2 Texas Realty Left Me With Dangerous Home While Pregnant Cypress Texas

In June 2023, I purchased my first home using Key 2 Texas Realty and realtor Ava Gutowski. This turned into a stressful and costly experience due to missing documentation, unfinished repairs, and a lack of accountability. Before closing, the inspection revealed safety issues—ungrounded outlets, plumbing leaks, and missing GFCIs. These issues were included in a signed repair amendment. During the final walkthrough, repairs were not completed. I expressed concern, but my realtor told me to move forward and the seller would provide receipts. After closing, I discovered the amendment was completely missing from the signed documents. When I asked about it, it was uploaded weeks later—too late to enforce. I was left with no legal support to ensure the seller completed repairs. I had to pay over $37,000 out-of-pocket to make the home livable and safe. My insurance paid an additional $13,720. I was pregnant and had complications, developed a serious bone infection, and my postpartum depression and anxiety worsened due to the situation. My infant was exposed to unsafe conditions—bad air quality, faulty plumbing, and no safe way to bathe. I followed up multiple times with Key 2 Texas Realty and was told I’d have to deal with it myself. No accountability. No apology. No offer to help resolve the issues. The Texas Real Estate Commission later confirmed Ava Gutowski failed to uphold her duties and formally disciplined her (TREC File #245859). That should say everything. This company never tried to make it right and left me to suffer the consequences of their failure to protect me as a buyer. If you are a first-time homebuyer or anyone expecting professionalism, please think twice before trusting them with one of the biggest decisions of your life. My experience was traumatic, expensive, and avoidable. Buyers deserve better.
