Scammed out of $25K for customized Kombi VW food truck. Found them under Palm Beach Buses online. Alvaro "Al" was the first POC. He connected me to his brother Roberto "the designer/builder" in Mexico. They tell you it's a family business and Al is the U.S. point of contact and Roberto designs and builds them, then exports them to you. When I asked for references, Al connected me with two local references in Wellington and Boytnon Beach, which I now believe are bogus and part of the scam. They make everything sound so legit and come off as nice guys. I got red flags as Roberto's excuses weren't adding up after he got half of the funds, about $25K. After I dug deeper I found reports of scams by these two brothers reported online. Roberto gave us his word we would get our money back because he's a honest business man. The stories keep changing. He strung us along with lies and empty promises. From what we now know, these guys do this for a living and have been getting away with it in our area. Beware of these scammers! They come off as genuine nice guys and tell you everything you want to hear.
