My car was in the shop so I arranged a ride to the doctor with a senior shuttle service for December 21, 2022. They were expensive to be sure, but at the time they were my only option. There is bus service, but it doesn't leave the Township, and of course the doctor is in the next township, although only 7 miles away. The Connector bus needs more lead time, so shuttle service was the best option. I scheduled a ride with a local company called "Loving Touch". They had pretty good reviews, but you are always taking a chance with these. I spoke to Renee, who was very pleasant on the phone. So, $3.70 per mile, $37.00 one way. The entire bill for round trip was $125.00 for 14 miles round trip. But I still needed to get to the doctor. Their cancelation is by 4:00pm on December 20, 2022. but I did not cancel. The next day, the day of the appointment, at 8;30 am the doctor's office called with an emergency and all appointments were cancelled. I immediately called Loving Touch to explain that the doctor cancelled all appointments, and I wouldn't be able to use the service. At 2:00 pm the ride showed up. The driver's name was Sandy and she was absolutely lovely. She called the office while I was with her to find out what was going on. The "Supervisor", Bob, told her that they forgot to let her know the service was cancelled. I had to put my card on file for them, so they already had it. so today I got the bill for $125, for a service I couldn't use. Not because I was cancelling, but because the doctor cancelled. So, I want people to get their money, but this company would not negotiate. Take a cancellation fee if you have to, but to charge the entire cost seems a little rigid. I would have continued to use this service, but of course I won't now, and certainly can't recommend them. Remember, they specifically market to the elderly, the disabled, and those on a fixed income. Seems there could be a little wiggle room for extenuating circumstances.
