Maverick Miles Nehemiah Derek Kelly Marsalis, Derek Andri Kelly Marsalis Attempted to use me as public figure to legitimize his Con in pursuit of Movie Deal and Theft of Funds Pacoima, Van Nuys, Los Angeles CA

Maverick Miles Nehemiah born Derek Kelly Marsalis in 1961 “finds” people. It is a skill set unlike any I have ever seen. During the COVID outbreak in 2019 and eventual Global shutdown in 2020, he reached out to me.  

Derek Kelly Marsalis “found me” on IG (where he no doubt finds all of his victims to con) on November 30, 2020. Derek sought me out and exploited my status as a TV police expert, author and credible public figure with a law enforcement background to sanitize and legitimize an alleged fraud he has been developing for decades; the reiteration of  “Maverick Miles Nehemiah.” To that end, I was lied to and conned into self-publishing his "biography" The CONfidence Chronicles, The Greatest Crime Story [N]Ever Told" in October 2021.

In April 2022, Derek [Maverick] “found” Sean Williams, an intrepid British journalist, who was later commissioned by RollingStone Magazine to tell the story of “Maverick Miles Nehemiah”. Derek’s attempt to add another layer of legitimacy to his reinvention. It almost worked. With the help of a Rolling Stone fact checker, Sean pealed back the layers of this complicated onion; “The Con, the Con Artist and Me” published in the October 2023 issue of RollingStone.

After several months of conversation with Sean and  learning the truth about Maverick [Derek]  while I was being interviewed for the Rolling Stone Article I knew that I needed to pull the original version of the book from the shelves of Amazon (which I did) and in November 2023, I published "The CONfidence Chronicles, The Greatest Crime Story [N}Ever Told" 2nd Edition  with revisions. Maverick Miles Nehemiah sought me out to exploit my legitimacy as a retired law enforcement professional; the same as he sought Sean out as a legitimate journalist. Maverick expressed, to me, his desire to live in perpetuity and he will - in the pages of the book he so desperately wanted. Only his dreams of his own version of "Catch Me If You Can" will never be a movie. Factually, my book, "The CONfidence Chronicles, The Greatest Crime Story [N]Ever Told"  is my own version of "Tinder Swindler Meets The Usual Suspects". #letsmakeamovie

Derek Kelly Marsalis has one of those voices; he knows it and uses it to his advantage. His cadence and intonation are intoxicating. It just pulls you in. Rarely will you see his image on IG where he posts almost daily about his love of the Porsche 928. You will,  however, hear his voice set to some bad azz music in the background as he narrates the video post.  That's the beginning of the indoctrination (con) . You want to know him and then you want to help him. I got – got by my very own “Dirty John”. Derek [Maverick] unashamedly asked me for quick infusions of cash (often) as he struggled to pay bills, get “back on point”, “level up” or regain “momentum”. Always with the promise of repayment; which never came. As of this writing, Maverick [Derek} owes me $8,000.  Ladies (and gents) BEWARE! Maverick is very much a chameleon.  Part of his con is in the repurposing of decades old photos of himself. He seldom posts current pics and certainly not full body images. While he purports to be a well put together, svelte  "middle-aged man" he is a sloven, 62- year old senior citizen.  I soon learned, "anyone can get - got!!
